    1. [AUS-QLD] Searching for Arthur Ambrose SEARLE

    3. Hi List I am researching Arthur Ambrose SEARLE who died in Qld in 1953. (born in Plymouth, Devon in 1876) Wondering if some kind person would help with Elec Roll details from Ancestry (I only have UK Ancestry at present). There are 6 listed - 2 at Moreton; 3 at Wide Bay; & 1 at Lilley (under SARLE) Also I found a newspaper clipping, Cairns Post, 21 Sept 1953 It reported a sick man from Pine Islet being transported to Mackay on board the launch Silverware. "The man is Arthur Searle, single, assistant light keeper, suffering from kidney problems". Can anyone help - could this be my Arthur? . Seems ironic that both these dates are 1953, but I'm sure he would have been a bit old to be a light house keeper. - Are there records on L/H Keepers around ?? Arthur would have been 77 yrs old when he died in 1953. Lots of questions still to be answered..... Thanks heaps Helen NZ

    3. Hello Helen I have this man in my data base. Are his parents Milton Ambrose SEARLE and Miriam AMBROSE? I was researching another AMBROSE family at the time. 3. Arthur Ambrose Searle died in Brisbane on 4/9/1953 (according to the online Qld death index). The lighthouse keeper was Arnold Searle, he was aged 60 and he was taken off the island on 21/9/1953 (a couple of weeks after Arthur died). http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article42815055 So I think we can discount the lighthouse keeper, although he could be related of course. I checked through the Courier-Mail editions following 4 Sept 1953, but I didn't see a death or funeral notice. Kerry
