    3. Pam & Kerry Grandfather worked on the one that has the following which is in his diary:- Repairs to Fly Floor Set of steps from Fly to Grill Pugg? under Orchestra & Footlights New Doors to stairs at Boxes Switch Box on Garden Roof Refloor and deafen all Dressing Rooms. Plus other work. Unfortunately no year dates, just day and month. Which to me sounds like the one near the exhibition Ground. Bev Hi Bev There were two Tivoli Theatres in Brisbane. The first one I remember was in Albert St. opposite the City Hall and was a movie theatre. I visited there many times in my teens -1950-1960. It closed down many years ago when the first city square was built - not the hot-box that is there now. The other one that people have mentioned near the Exhibition Ground, in Costin St, was a live dinner/theatre place that I visited around 1990. They then went on to have visiting artists. I do not know if it is still operating. Pam in Brisbane

    3. Hi Bev I don't think the one in Costin St started operating until about the late 1980s. It was fairly new when I went there. The original building was built in 1917. From memory it did not have a garden roof. It may have been something else in between being Adams Cake Shop and the Tivoli. Surely someone else must remember these theatres. I will have a talk to my husband and see what he remembers about the movie theatre. Pam in Brisbane ----- Original Message ----- From: B. 3. Hi Pam The Tivoli Theatre was most definitely located, in Albert Street, approx mid way between Ann & Adelaide Streets. I regularly went there, from the mid forties (40) until it closed. It did have a Garden Roof, but from my memory it did not operate after the mid fifties (50) Regards John Benfer
