The cemeteries of the Gold Coast aren't generally available on-line, but another researcher told me that an email to the council provided them with the burial information they were looking for, so I would suggest starting with that. However, the Council will not be able to help if the person was buried or cremated in a non-Council cemetery. I have checked our website of headstone photos and there are no BOWES in them. The other thing to bear in mind with popular retirement locations like the Gold Coast is whether the people were long-time residents or more recent arrivals (e.g. many retirees). Recent arrivals are often buried/cremated back in their home towns, because there are more folk there wanting to attend the funeral, or a desire to be buried with other family members, etc. So check for a home town burial if the BOWES were not long-term residents.
