Hello Greg, There is a Mary MADDEN birth in NSW in 1853 for this same couple. Maybe this Mary, and Ellen are the one and same person. I can have a look at the actual film for you tomorrow which should give full date of birth and date of baptism, and should also give the father's occupation and where they were living at the time.
