hi can anyone help me with post office directories etc for 1880-1901 in taroom area. I am looking for McLean Families I know there is a Deceased estate for a D. McLean in Taroom his date of death was 16/01/1902 Duty paid 29/5/1902. I have been searching for our unclaimed McLean for about 10 years and due to some newspapers being transcribed at Trove i now have a link to Dawson River central Qld so that is around Taroom i believe so if anyone can help or put me in touch with a researcher i would appreciate it. yours, kind regards Julie McLean

On the 1900 Queensland State Electoral Roll (from archive CD books) there is a David McLean aged 59 address Terrick Terrick occupation station employee Date when claim received by Electoral Registrar 4th April 1898. Regards Kerry (Young)

Hello Kay & Kerry,Terrick Terrick is quite a long way from Taroom. But your man could have been part of the large itinerant work force (sometimes as shearers, shepherds, drovers or stockmen) that worked properties such as Terrick Terrick in those times. I have been watching the replies for your original query on D. McLean. Is it a David McLEAN you are looking for. There is no McLEAN one who died on 16.1.1902 in the death indexes. I have them on microfiche, so can check all names & exact dates. No are there any buried in the Taroom Cemetery. Do you have parents names for you fellow, or any other details.
