    3. Hello, trying to track my gt gt grandmother, Mary Sayles, after 1870, when her husband Joseph died and she was left with several children, the youngest of whom would have not yet turned one . I have been able to locate the grown/married children in various places in Qld and northern NSW, but of Mary, nothing. Her maiden name was Hardy. I have found on Ancestry a reference to a tree which has Mary and Joseph Sayles and family as one of theirs, but they have no references of evidence. A connection to this tree suggests that Mary's father was an Andrew Hardy. I have received correspondence from another source who suggests that there is a possible other first name for her father. In both cases they have Mary's mother then marrying again, and both say to a person of the same name. This connection also does not have any reference of proof. Both theses sources say that Mary was born in Lancashire and the date is marginally different. I have tried to find a death date for Mary Sayles (using various spelling) but no luck....both in Qld and NSW. I did send for one cert. for a Mary Sales (in Tenterfield) I think it was, but this was for the death of a child. I chose this one because of the year and the fact that one of her male children lived in the area. I have checked out a marriage for a Mary Sayles in Warwick to a Willett.... time frame was good, ie after 1870, but on that certificate it gave a very young age for Mary and a birth place of Ireland. On at least one birth entry for a child of Mary she gives her birth place as Darlaston, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. I am currently getting other birth entries for her children to see what her birth place is listed on those. Mary and Joseph Sayles were married in Warwick in 1855. Joseph was a 'convict' who was assigned to the Gore Property outside Warwick. If there is anyone researching any of the above families, I would like to contact them. I have made contact with one lady who married a McColm but she was unaware of what might have happened to Mary in the 1800's. Glenda
