When I was looking at births for WELLS in NSW, I found that a few of them were registered at the TWEED RIVER, which is on the NSW/QLD border. Perhaps her birth was never registered, and why she said she was born in QLD. I still think her wedding certificate, if you can obtain a copy, is your best bet. Also she may have married as Sonia Wells but was she born another name as happened a lot I agree order her marriage cert and it should help in your search. It's worth re-considering that the NSW marriage index in 1931 has Sonia Wells marrying Reginald Wightman. Unlike the Qld marriage index which uses maiden name, the NSW index uses current surname. So it is possible that Wells is Sonia's previous married name.
