Hi Listers, Where can I find out information on wood choppers? A recent re-united cousin mentioned that our Uncle had told him that “Great Granddad Thomas was good with an axe.” When I mentioned this to my mother little bells started ringing & she mentioned that every time the wood chopping was broadcast on the TV when she was young, that her dad (Great Granddad Thomas’ son) would be glued to it & he’d make the whole family sit & watch the wood chopping comps at the EKKA. Does anyone know of a guild, group, club or society that may have archived information? My best guess would be Australia Axemen Association https://sites.google.com/site/ausaxemen/ which has subgroups in each state, e.g. Queensland Axemen, etc. But if you are interested in pre-1955, then I think the Trove digitised newspapers would be your best bet for finding articles about events, scores and results etc. http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper Kerry -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Christine Sent: Friday, 3 February 2012 8:07 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-QLD] Wood Chopping?
