    1. [AUS-QLD] Posting Interests - LAZZARONI

    3. I live in England and am currently doing some family history research for a family here. Which is what brings me to Australia. The family I am interested in is LAZZARONI - there would appear to be few in the area around Townsville, Ingham and Halifax now, and I am hoping one of them may be related to Giuseppe (Joseph) LAZZARONI born 15th August 1917, Halifax, Queensland, Australia (according to his passport from the 1950’s – it also states he is a Cane Farmer). He came to England I believe during WW2 and married an English girl, Joan Margaret COOK, and their marriage certificate states his father as Thomas LAZZARONI (deceased). They emigrated to Australia in 1950 but returned to England in 1954, after the birth of their first child. Any help on the LAZZARONI family would be much appreciated. Thanks Tony

    3. Tony, try the Newspaper site at www.ntrove.nla.gov.au www.ww2roll.gov.au white pages at www.whitepages.com.au even google them, there's still Lazzaroni around. www.naa.gov.au - National archives of Australia, google bdm, queensland. If you have access to ancestry, have a look at the electoral rolls. 3. Hello Tony, Re: LAZZARONI - Halifax, North Queensland While I don't have any personal information on your Lazzaroni family, I too am certainly familiar with the name. The 'Cairns Post' and the 'Townsville Daily Bulletin' [newspapers in that area] are available through our Australian National Library. The link is http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/search?adv=y Make sure that you go down through the list of States and tick the heading for Queensland. There are quite a number of entries for the Lazzaroni name, perhaps some of those will give you a lead. There is also the Cairns Historical Society and the Townsville and District Historical Society. They may have material that would be relative to your inquiry. If there is anything specific please let us know. There are many very helpful people on the Queensland list.
