Jenelle. -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of doug&jan Sent: Friday, 20 September 2013 10:52 AM To: Aus Qld Subject: [AUS-QLD] Naval Ships Is there any way of finding out which Royal Navy ships docked in Brisbane during WW2 My Cousin says his family were visited by a British Sailor during the war which at the time he found quite strange as the ship was not in Brisbane long and they lived out of Brisbane and it would have taken some time to travel to them...... and he always wondered why...as there were a lot of wispered conversations during the visit..... It has come to light now that the Sailor was his half brother by his Father who was stationed in England during WW1.......... which explains why he did the long journey on short leave..... My Cousin is getting on a bit now and would like to see if this Sailor had any Family in England...he has a name and approximate date of birth which would put him in his 90's ..... he even has a photo of him I have tried the site for Royal Navy Crews... but it only goes up to 1923...in doing so I found my own Grandfathers records....as he joined in 1909 which was a bonus. Does anyone know if there would be a site for England.....like our National Archives site that lists all Australian Servicemen....... If I could find the ships that docked in Brisbane it may narrow down my search. Any suggestions would be appreciated. cheers Jan Please remember to snip most of the earlier message before you post any reply......
