Try the John Oxley Library site they have pictures and a story on the Brisbane Telephone Exchange .. one of the pictures is of Mrs William Heddle DICK and the girls she was in charge of... tried to send the page but it wouldnt go through.... google "hold the line please Brisbane Telephone Exchange" should get you the page..
