Hi Folks I have had a request for help with the following: Who was the mother of Ivy Olive CAMPBELL (born 1889 Cunnamulla) I cannot locate a birth for anyone by that name in Qld - at all !! >From the information supplied, I located her marriage in Brisbane on 17Oct1914 to Thomas Michael DAWSON. Then I located her death in December 1920 - father listed as Alexander Peatson Campbell - mother listed as Matilda Smith She is buried at Toowong Cemetery on 21Dec1920 - portion 7A / section 43 / grave # 17. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr <http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=75092286> &GRid=75092286 So, from the death record, I now suspect that Matilda SMITH is the mother that is being searched. Matilda CAMPBELL, nee SMITH died in Brisbane in 1937 - and no parents are listed.... 1937 B35559 Matilda Campbell - Smith - Matilda is buried in the Toowong Cemetery and she was 88 years old - thus born around 1849 but nothing else is known on her. She was interred on 28/05/1937 - portion 5 / section 118 / grave 26. So if Matilda was born around 1849, she was about 40 years old when she had Ivy. Not sure if this is Alexander Peatson CAMPBELL - death is 30Jun1909 - only one closely matching Ivy's father but born around 1849 1909 B11172 Alexander P. Campbell - Campbell - ** aged 60 years So, does anyone have any knowledge of Ivy being born in Cunnamulla? OR know anything of her parents - Alexander Peatson Campbell and Matilda Smith? Would anyone have the Electoral Rolls or even the Post Office Directories for the early 1900's in Brisbane? A little bit more I found The Courier-Mail (Brisbane) Friday 28 May 1937 CAMPBELL. - Relatives and Friends of Mrs. Matilda Campbell (of Keats Street, Moorooka) are invited to attend her Funeral,to leave the Funeral Chapel, 17 Peel Street, South Brisbane, This Friday) Afternoon, at 2 o'clock, for the Toowong Cemetery. JOHN HISLOP & SONS, Funeral Directors. Also: The Brisbane Courier (Qld) Friday 16 July 1909 - Brisbane General Hospital - Deaths were ....... Alexander Campbell, 60, Samford; These are not my family at all, I received an email from Italy, and I was trying to find some answers for Sharyn. Well, a family tree on Ancestry that Ivy Olive Campbell (who married Thomas Michael Dawson) was born in 1889 in Cunnamulla, daughter of Alexander Peterson Campbell and Matilda Smith Matilda Smith Birth 1849 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Death 27 may 1937 in Brisbane Qld Alexander Peterson Campbell Birth 29 Dec 1839 in North Shields, Northumberland England Death 30 Jun 1909 in Brisbane Queensland Australia Matilda and Alexander married 29 Aug 1866 at Springdallah Victoria Rio de Janeiro sounds a surprising sort of location, but some of the immigrant ships went from Britain to Rio and then down around the Cape of Good Hope, so that's one possibility .
