Robert, When was this mention of Paradise? There are a number of places called Paradise, so we need a little more information to narrow it down. For example, in the 1950s, it might be a reference to Surfers Paradise, but it would be 1930s it would not be so because that name had been introduced. So knowing "when" matters. Also, you said they were "moving up". Are these your words? Or, did they actually say/write "moving up" (implying a south-to-north movement or from a low place to a high place, e.g. from the coast to the mountains)? And if so, where were they when they said/wrote it (so we know where they meant "up" relative to?). Also, in what circumstances did they say/write it? Obviously in a formal document, we can expect it to be a formal name. If it's an informal documents, e.g. a Christmas card, then it may be an informal name or nickname. For example, it might just have been a remark that they expected to go to Heaven when they died.
