Hi Robert, I'm sorry you had no luck, but may I ask a couple of questions? Firstly, did you do a very specific search? It sounds like you did. A more general search may bring a better result, depending on how common the surname is. To test my theory, in case something on the site had changed, I just went in to the white pages and then chose Queensland. That brought up a page where it gave you a choice of name, initial, location and postcode. I used my former married name of Blanchard as a point of reference as it is not a highly common surname here. So I typed in "Blanchard" ONLY with no initials. Then in location, I typed Queensland ONLY. No town, no post code and no Christian name initials. This gave me an excellent result. It did give me about seven pages with 62 results but they are very easy to search as they are in alphabetical order. I now come to the point as to WHY you should perhaps search in this manner. I presume you would be aware that northern Queensland, especially, has been hard hit by several extremely severe weather events in the past ten years. One of these catastrophic events may have forced your relatives to move again, perhaps even more than once. So many houses were destroyed, especially up north. Having, or not having, house insurance - and - whether the insurance company paid out, would be a major factor. My own son's house at Ipswich flooded to the ceilings in one of these events. He and his family were one of the lucky ones, they were able to move back in a bit over a year later. Almost exactly one year later again, his house was once more threatened, but luckily the river stopped just below their back fence this time. Several thousands of other families have not been so lucky. Also, one of the reasons I recommend NOT putting in initials, is because of unexpected family events that may have happened in that 10 year period. In the worst case scenario, someone may have died, another possibility, is that a couple may have parted company. If this search does not bring results, you may have to start searching state by state. We have heard of families, in northern Queensland especially, being devastated by more than one of these series of weather events; and having had just one too many traumatic events happen in too few years, have decided to move completely away to a state where cyclones are unheard of and floods are uncommon. And one last silly question, did you try a straight out Google search for any of their names? Including using diminutives (i.e. Bob or Rob for Robert) or their personal nick-names? They could have been mentioned in a sporting or social event, an accident etc. That could bring up an online reference to a newspaper report. I hope this helps a little and I wish you luck in your search, Regards, Wynnette. -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Robert N. Thank you all Good evening Wynnette: I've tried your suggestion and unfortunately; they either don't have a Land Line or are not in the area searched for? Paradise was mentioned back in 2003. Recently: I was seeking to find rellies in the Bundaberg - 1770 area and then looked for them in Paradise and not finding such a locality; posted my query to the list. Paradise could be as suggested; not a place as such, but an area and if such is the case; where should I be looking? Your suggestions for getting better phone results is an excellent one Wynette. A fly in the ointment with phone numbers these days is that many people are ditching their landline in favour of smart phones. I do notice that some mobile numbers are listed. Just a thought.
