    3. Colin, Chris & Lorrae I know it is late but Happy Easter to everyone...... Yes I agree with you Colin if people want to keep their family history to them selves they don't post it on the net. What's on the net- is there for you to use. If we didn't have information like this we would be spending a lot of money to get information. Putting it on the net helps families ........if you should find some info you can always let people know you have certain information for them or where they could find it. Helping someone never hurts anyone. from Maureen -----Original Message----- From: Colin Larter Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2014 12:52 PM To: aus-qld@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Ancestry's public trees Chris and Lorrae and all on the list Happy Easter. I have been watching this conversation going around in circles for some time and feel some have been a little harsh on others. We were all beginners once and had to start some where. We must not forget that most of us started later in life when most ancestors had passed and taken their information with them. So we grasped to what ever details we found. If trees are precious to people I feel they should not make them public and if they do they should not complain if others use the details. Yes we in years gone by spent numerous hours and money to get to where we are today before the internet and if we do not want to share do not post it on the internet and you will not need to complain. I also feel that we should always help others where ever possible. Sure we have all got incorrect details in our tree somewhere and with further research we hopefully will straighten this out. I have had details proven to me by 2 professionals and corrected my line at the top but it is hard to convince some that theirs needs correcting so I leave them go on. But it is hard when people then copy theirs with the same mistakes. Some go on about people with large trees as name collectors but I agree with Chris that this is a way to eventually get further details for your own tree and could be another way to help others Happy hunting in Genealogy Regards Colin > Hi > > I have been following this thread with interest. > > I must admit, I have gone right off having a lot of data online.
