Its not only Ancestry I had my tree on Genes Reunited..... and was contacted by a lady who saw I had Robbie BURNS (the Poet) in my Family she said she was also related through my LEES Family.....and she named one of my Ancestors who is also close to Robbie BURNS so I gave her permission to view my tree and she did the same for me............. she copied my tree onto hers ............which included a typing mistake by me..which I picked up when I saw her tree........her connection was not even a connection by marriage...... it turned out someone on her tree was LIVING with someone who by marriage was very distantly related to my LEES Family... this lady just wanted to connect to the Poet.. I noticed on her tree several other errors...(Mine was I typed the date 1823 as 1832} but on the others the dates and places were wrong I asked her where she got the info and told her it was wrong..........her answer was :"I just copy the information and when people see my tree and its wrong they give me the right info and I change it." needless to say she never got the corrected info from me...... and its still wrong on her tree...and I have from time to time emailed her telling her its wrong... I have since changed my tree to my direct line only not many siblings just a couple and no dates just years...... that's enough for people who are genuine to make contact...............I have my tree on a program on my computer that is not public....happy to share with people I know are genuine.........but people like this lady really annoy me... cheers Jan PS for those who dont know about Genes Reunited.... when you put your tree on there it will show individuals and date.. when someone does a search for a name... you can give the search a margin of so many years and everyone who has that name within the years will show up on a list... then you can contact the tree owner....
