    3. Hi I have finally received my great grandparents marriage certificate and found out that my GGrandfather James DOYLE was born in Toowoomba around 1878. I have looked up BDM QLD and I can't find a record of his birth. His parents are John DOYLE and Mary McLEARNAN. My next job will be to track down his parents. What I really need to know right now - is it possible to find his birth anywhere else online. I am in NZ. Thanks Vicki

    3. Hi Vicki, Where and when did your James DOYLE marry? McLearnan appears to be a VERY uncommon name, and I can only find that name in the USA, England & Scotland, and only very few of them. NSW BMD: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=births WA Pioneer Index: http://www.justice.wa.gov.au/_apps/pioneersindex/default.aspx?uid=0308-0996-4747-9523 You _MUST_ click on the SEARCH button on this site, hitting 'enter' will NOT work. SA is not online for searching VIC is, but you have to put your credit card in to search (have searched this on CD for you, but nothing there) Tasmania: http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=8 I am thinking that Mary's name has been misspelt, or mistranscribed. Hope this helps, Cheers Wendy Perth WA Chris & Vicki wrote: > Hi > I have finally received my great grandparents marriage certificate and found > out that my GGrandfather James DOYLE was born in Toowoomba around 1878. 3. Hi Wendy James DOYLE married Mary Jane REED in Springsure on 26 Dec 1895. I did a quick search on the McLEARNAN surnames today, and discovered the name was very uncommon. I mainly just need ideas on what to do next. I was waiting on tender hooks for the certificates and now they have arrived, I am still stuck. 3. Vicki, I have a birth in Toowoomba that was never registered, it cost money, maybe they couldn't afford it, have you corrupted their name, spelt it wrong, tried www.rootsweb.com click world connect or try www.familysearch.org or a different state, just cause they said they were born there, doesn't mean they were, I learnt the hard way. Have you tried the National library of Australia digitising project. Other states of Australia are online, (I don't think New Zealand BDM's are online yet). Have you found them on the shipping index at the State Archives of Queensland, click indexes, search Assisted Immigration. 3. Vicki, No sign of Mary in the QLD deaths to 1964, with that maiden name. Wonder if it should be McERLEAN. Cheers, Jules. julie.dern@bigpond.com -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. 3. Vicki, Had a bit of search at Qld State archives for James doyle. there were quite a few hits among them a land selection, insolvency and a will. all from late 1800s. Might be worth a look.
