I've got sidetracked completely............ I did google up the Charters Towers Library , What a magnificent building ! Reminded me of some of the buildings in Wharf St Maryborough... which are quite stunning ,especially the building that houses the LDS and the Maryborough FHS and the Court House across the road The Bellevue Hotel that used to be in Brisbane was a stunning looking building too There is nothing like these any where around where I live . Charters Towers has its own Historical Society - write to the Charters Towers and Dalrymple Family History Association, PO Box 783, Charters Towers 4820. The Northern Miner is their newspaper.
