Jan, John Edward Henry, buried Gin Gin cemetery 21.3.1980, aged 89. Headstone & burial register states Helena as died 14.6.1899, aged 32, buried 15th, but can't locate her in the death indexes, either as Hannah or Lena. She is buried with her son Thomas Walter, died 13.12.1898, aged 6 years & 4 months, buried 14th, also at Gin Gin. Though you'd like this. Bundaberg Mail 21.6.1899 I desire to publicly tender to most sincere thanks to Dr. FRANCIS for his untiring devotion and attention to my loving wife by trying all possible means to restore her to health, but death had too strong a hold. I have also to thank Mrs. CANE for her untiring attention during my wife's last moments. My best thanks are also due to the public of Bundaberg for their sympathy and prayers for the restoration of her life, and also the residents of Gin Gin and surrounding districts, for the kindly feeling of sympathy shown in the last respect to my loving wife. God hath gained her, I have lost her. John STAPLETON. Bundaberg Mail 13.6.1900. STAPLETON, My dear sister, Helena STAPLETON, died at Bundaberg 14 June 1899, from her sorrowing sister Alice McKENZIE.
