Thanks, Barbara. The Baptisms available on the Vital Records Index just say Moreton Bay Roman Catholic. I think I will take a trip to the State Library or Family History Society. Best wishes, Judy From: "Barbara Robinson" <bro51909@bigpond.net.au> Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Peter Murphy The references with the V before the year date relate to original parish registers which have been filmed, copies are held at Qld State Library, Genealogical Society of Qld and Qld Family History Society Having looked at these films for a marriage in 1851 I recall they do not show much information other than Bride and Grooms names, and date of event, there is little else on the registers. The reference to Moreton Bay RC, not sure wht that means but it could be the old registers for St Stephens Cathedral, these records are held at the Cathedral Archives and also at the Genealogical Society of Qld Inc as we were allowed to film and index these records. Hello Judy, The marriage of Peter MURPHY and Catherine THOMPSON, recorded on NSW register would only give you their names, the names of the witnesses, and if the marrige was by Banns or License. The birth records for their children showing on the NSW register and then show up as a baptism on the Qld records would show; - their name - date of birth - date of baptism - where they were baptised - and by whom - the parents names - their place of abode - and occupation of the father. All this information is hand written in the Church Parish Register. If you can wait till Friday, I can get the information for you, but please let me know. Cheers Janet
