Hello Eileen, Alex Gow Funeral Director's Records: David John GORTON, 67 years, 10 Nov 1972, Entry No: 53/38375. These records were indexed by the Genealogical Society of Queensland (GSQ), and the actual fiche records should be available for look-up at the society. In Julie Dern's Dern Index for QLD, I located an entry for: Joseph Aubrey GORTON d. 19.01.1973 - husb & fa - MI - Kingaroy I then checked the GSQ burial records for the area and located him in the Taabinga Cemetery Burial Register Index: Name: GORTON, Joseph Aubrey, Date: 22 Jan 1973, Entry No: 146 Apart from Mount Thompson early records, I don't think Cremation records are generally available. Perhaps newspapers may be an option looking for his death? Which newspaper in Brisbane would I ask to be checked as it is not on Ryerson index at all. I am not sure as to what newspapers would be in this area as I am in New Zealand Regards Eileen Quoting the entire text of a previous message in a reply is poor netiquette. Hello Eileen, The main newspaper in Queensland is The Courier Mail - just do a google search on "the courier main" and you will see their link. For fresh births, deaths and marriages these can be accessed via the tab "Announcements" However, historical entries are not retained, if in fact they appeared in the first place. The newspaper may have a pay lookup service, but I cannot be sure of thal The State Library of Queensland should have access to newspapers both current and historical - see http://www/slq.qld.gov.au/coll/news and click on newspapers on the left. You could Ask a Librarian at SLQ on: http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/services/ask to do a lookup for you or give you advice how to access the information. Kind regards, Greg Hay Original Which newspaper in Brisbane would I ask to be checked as it is not on Ryerson index at all.
