    3. There are two cemeteries in Charters Towers, the Pioneer cemetery and The Lynd cemetery (so-called because it's out along the road that goes to The Lynd -- it's not actually at The Lynd). Given the date of death, I'm pretty sure you want the Pioneer Cemetery. The Lynd opened in 1895 (I think). There is monumental inscription data for the Pioneer Cemetery: http://www.myrasplace.net/hstones/hchtwrs.htm but I don't know if anyone has burial registers available. Very much appreciate your help with Peter Murphy. I don't understand why he doesn't show as being buried at Chartes Towers. The death cert. says he was buried there 7 April 1878. Maybe that Catherine Murphy with no particulars was his wife. No, there is no age or anything else known about Catherine. Last child known to be born to Peter and Catherine was in 1853 Brisbane. It appears that one child, Elizabeth bapt in 1846 Brisbane has a mother as Catherine Dewen. I believe this is Catherine Thompson, but no proof - father was Peter Murphy. Peter Murphy arrived on the Countess Harcourt 1827. He was born 1806 Dublin and was transported for Life. He was a Plasterer by trade. His trial was 26 Jan 1826. There were a few Peter Murphys around and at least one other on the same ship. His nickname was Duff. I know he was a Constable in Brisbane and in Bowen. He married 1842 in Sydney to Catherine Thompson. Both were Catholic. I know he owned property at Kangaroo Pt and Ipswich. I think this will be a hard one!!
