Lillian, When you hit a brick wall, sometimes it is helpful to go back to the start and go over every piece of information, questioning if it really says what you thought it said or whether it is capable of some other interpretation. For example, you mention three brothers, John Henry, Charles Samuel & Joseph, all sons of Thomas Adams & Sarah Westicott. My problem is that when I look in the Vic births, the only children I find for that couple are: Samuel Thomas, 1870 Alfred Ernest, 1872 William Thomas, 1874 James, 1878 George Herbert, 1883 Edwin, 1886 So I can't see any sign of the 3 brothers you mention. Do you have some evidence that they are indeed brothers and the sons of Thomas Adams & Sarah Westicott? The WWW1 file for Charles Samuel Adams does say his next-of-kin is brother Alfred Ernest, but that is the only connection I can find. Have searched BDM's Vic Wa Nsw... have spent a small fortune on cerificates.. so thought I would try Qld... His brother Joseph ( my father) was a wanderer/ miner and worked the goldfields. It is noted on Charles Samuel Adams (another brother) war record that John Henry was killed in 1st war but there isnt any records whatsoever of him joining AIF or death recorded... he remains a mystery....
