Hello all, I've forgotten who asked about the DOWN family in the Cairns area, but I can tell you that that family is well-known in the Cairns/Edmonton area, esp the forename Sidney. I taught some of the family at Hambledon State school in 1969. There would be many still in the area. It might be worth contacting a local historian there, Kay Earl.
