Jill, I am not any relation to the McWilliam family but I have been trying to help out a friend with a McWilliam family. She has a John Matthew McWilliam born in Girvan,Ayreshire,Scotland about 1854.He married a Jeannie Uhrdahl in 1888 in Mackay. They had 9 children all up. The first three being , Donald Bain McWilliam,Elizabeth McGregor McWilliam and Jeannie Marion McWilliam.They were born in Qld and the rest in Sydney.I do not know when John Matthew died but he is on the electoral roll in Sydney in 1930 and 1936. It is believed John was the Harbour Master in Mackay.I just wonder if there is any chance of a connection between the families.
