Hello List Can anybody please advise me how I may find the details of the first wife of my great-grandfather , William Grace HENNESSY ? William was born in Stoneyford , Kilkenny , Ireland about 1832-1836 to James HENNESSY& wife Catherine ( nee GRACE ) . The next information I have of him is his marriage to Bridget GALVIN on 19th April 1866 at Rockhampton , Qld, Australia. On their Marriage Certificate he is listed as a widower & Bridget as a spinster. The family have no knowledge of his first marriage -- date, place ( Ireland , Australia , another country ) , bride's name, any children ( anecdotal evidence suggests he had a son called Martin but is not confirmed ). There is a Martin HENNESSY living in Hartley St. Rockhampton occupation Wheelwright on the 1922 ELECTORAL ROLL at the same address is Mary HENNESSY occupation HOme duties. there is marriage of a Martin HENNESSY to a Mary POSTICH in Country Qld. 4-6-1913 ref 1913/000799 *******may be a bit late for your man... but could be related...
