Hi List, Can anyone point me in the direction of sources which would tell me what foods were commonly eaten in 19th century Queensland. In particular, I am interested in the 1850s. Whilst I can see what foods were available by looking at the Moreton Bay Courier, there is nothing to say who purchased them. What foods were consumed by the working classes and which were considered luxury items? Obviously there would have been cultural differences which influenced diet (my ancestors were Irish), but how did immigrants deal with the array of different foods which confronted them? Much of it would have been very different to what they had experienced at home. Any thoughts welcome. With thanks, Jo Mitchell Geelong
