With the help of this list and many hours at the archives, I think I am getting a handle on this family. I was trying to locate the death of her husband, and I know where he was living in 1936, so that is why I started in 1940. My confusion is that Gertrude is listed with James Thomas SMITH since 19 July 1923 whilst her husband, James Edward SMITH is listed with Bertha Maryann SMITH since 20 April 1932. I noted that in 1946, there is a comment 'OBJECTION' against both James Edward and Bertha Maryann and then they do not appear in the 1947 Electoral Roll for Cunnamulla. In 1966, James Thomas has a comment "E BRISBANE" against his name, and he does not appear on the 1967 Roll. I think this means he moved to East Brisbane - too hard to work out the area. What does "OBJECTION" mean? Is it possible that this couple divorced and then remarried? How do I check that? As there were no street numbers in that era, I do not know if they lived in the same house, or just the same street. Some members were living in Garden Street, then later in Francis Street, and the names are family names. I ran out of time to check further, does anyone have easy access to the Australian Electoral Rolls to check further details for me please? Is there any other place / resource that would help me, too please?
