Thanks to Stan, Janelle, Barbara and Sherrie for your replies to my email about Lena NEILl. No results as yet in finding her burial or grave. Family seem to think she is buried in Cooktown and I am thinking of contacting the Catholic Priest in Cooktown to see if he has any idea of her death/burial. As suggested, the grave might be there but the number covered in dust although, I would be rather surprised if there was not a headstone above her grave...after all, she had Helenvale and Helen Street, Cooktown named after her....a wonderful lady from what I have read, who was always a great help to all. She never married but was always on call to help her family and friends. Will see what I can find. I have most of the history of the Neill Family...thanks Janelle for that mention of Johanna Guilfoyle....will open that site and save the information for the NEILL family tree, which I am researching for the descendants. Again thanks for all your help...such a lot of kind people and a great site for getting any help in tracing our ancestors. Kind regards, Mary
Mary, I have NEILL in my tree, but none of the names you mention tie in with mine unfortunately... I have also found them under NEIL/O'NEILL/O'NEIL Jenelle. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary Mizzi" <mmizzi@dodo.com.au> To: <aus-qld@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 3:09 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] RE death and burial of LENA NEILL. > Thanks to Stan, Janelle, Barbara and Sherrie for your replies to my email > about Lena NEILl. > > No results as yet in finding her burial or grave. Mary Mizzi, I belong to the Catholic parish of Mareeba and I can tell you that at the moment there is no Catholic priest in Cooktown. It's the story all over Australia, unfortunately. Probably a call to the Bishop's House in Cairns could you give you some leads.
