Hi List In the book, 'Croydon Gold, An Illustrated History of Croydon' is a reference to a Mrs OWENS who had a wayside hotel at Corron Crossing. This would have been outside Croydon on the horse and bullock team road to Normanton. There is no mention of her first name or that of her husband. No OWENS children are mentioned. Does anyone know anything of this lady please? I ask as my g-grandfather, John Patrick OWENS died in Cloncurry in 1901, and he was suppose to have an uncle in Normanton. This is the closest I have come to locating a possible candidate. (I do not even know if the Uncle had the surname of OWENS - just that 'he had an Uncle in Normaton'!!) John Patrick OWENS was the son of Maurice OWENS and Ellen GILROY - according to his marriage certificate.
