Hi Dean, Hope you are not too awash with wonderful water up your way. Can you send some down here. On the CLDS Site there is Cecil Napier ROSS, born Hobart, Tasmania18.6.1885, son of Hector ROSS & Hannah FACY. No sign of him in the QLD deaths to 1964, nor K.M. SMITH, or Cannon & Cripps Funeral Directors Indexes for Brisbane. >From a Senate Rule of Prizes, There is a mention of a C.N. ROSS Prize. Founded in 1956 by contributors of approximately $540 from collegues & former students as a testimonial to Cecil Napier ROSS, who retured in 1953 from the teaching department of the Department of Civil Engineering, after 40 years of service with the university. Cheers, Jules. Warren, NSW. (but a dinky di QLD girl). julie.dern@bigpond.com -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. We are a community of 5.9 million users fighting spam. Found in a University of Queensland document: C.N. Ross Prize (Founded in 1956 by contributions of approximately $540 from colleagues and former students as a testimonial to Cecil Napier Ross, who retired in 1953 from the teaching staff of the Department of Civil Engineering after 40 years service to the University.) You might want to contact archives@uq.edu.au for more information about him. There would have been a staff file, if nothing else. I am wondering if anyone has ever came across mention of one, Cecil Napier Ross? He apparently was a lecturer in Civil Engineering at Queensland University in c1937 and later rose to being on the professorial staff. I think he died about 1959. I thought that someone may have come across some reference to him, or perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. And may you and yours enjoy good health and happiness throughout 2009.
