Hi List, Getting frustrated with the online NSW bdm's as I can't wildcard search, does anybody have the NSW pioneer cd and would spend some time doing a search for me. 1864-1871 timeframe. Mary Sailer nee McGrath (Macgrath) she married in Q'land - Gutman Ubald Marriage McGrath Mary 16 08 1864 1864/ 000218 First child was born in NSW in 1865 parents :- GOODMAN -HUBERT & MARY - (BATHURST, NSW)area Extract from obituary of Mary Sailer d. 1924 Qld "married Herbert Goodman, and went to New South Wales where they resided for a few years. While in the South Mr. Goodman died, and she returned to Ipswich" So I'm looking for a death for Gutman/Goodman or variations with christian name variations Hubert/Herbert/Ublad. Mary's 2nd marriage was back in Q'land on 16 Aug 1871. Next step will be to purchase his Qld marriage certificate which might give more clues as to his parents etc but would like to try the wildcard search first. Any help would be very much appreciated. Charmaine

Well done Stephen and congratulations on your Book. Jenelle. Subject: [AUS-QLD] New Book: "The Leavetaking", family history of one Meyer family in Qld Greetings all, for the last 10 years I have been researching my mother's Meyer family of Queensland. Three years ago I decided to try and put all the information together into a book form so that all of the data, stories, photos, documents etc. could be pulled together into a coherent form that non-genealogy members of my family could read. The book is "The Leavetaking Volume 1: The Meyer Family". It has been released to members of my family, but I have decided to make it public. It is a **large** pdf file - 167 Mb to be exact. So it would take a fair amount of time to download. If you don't have the room on your computer, or through your internet connection, then DON'T try and download it. It can be downloaded through my blog at: http://mightyogborising.blogspot.com.au/p/blog-page.html Comments and feedback are welcome. I know that this probably has nothing to do with your family, but some people may find my attempt at writing a book of some interest. I should also note that the research and writing may never have happened to the extent it has without the wonderful support of the members of this AUS-QLD list. Thank you all so much. Cheers ... -- Stephen Nicholson -- Corrimal NSW

Family Tree DNA have given the go ahead for two new exciting Australian DNA projects and I am assisting the primary organiser Gail Riddell on the Australian Settlers project. Below are details of how you may initiate participation and I hope that as many of you as possible take up this opportunity to link up with others who may be descended from your immigrant forebears. I am writing to advise (with much pleasure) that FTDNA have given their approval to Gail Riddell to pioneer two new Australian Projects, and I am assisting her on the Settlers project. They are both categorised as Dual Y DNA and mtDNA Geographical project. Consequently, I am broadcasting this far and wide as I am aware we have many Australian testers within our ranks. (Even if you have ONLY tested atDNA (Family Finder) to date, it matters not. Just join. The "Australian Convicts" project is primarily aimed at those poor sods (male and female) who faced the tribulations of that unknown sea journey in the late 18th century. It will also welcome those who were later transferred to Norfolk Island. The "Australian Settlers" project is aimed at anyone who entered the land as a settler or traversed the rigours of the Convict status and became bone fide settlers. If you are interested in joining, the Convicts project is at <http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianConvicts/> http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianConvicts/ The Settlers Project is at <http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianSettlers/> http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AustralianSettlers/ If you join, you will need to supply me with either the Fleet and / or the ship on which your ancestor(s) arrived (for the former), and the port(s) of arrival of your most distant Australian immigrants (both direct male lineage and direct female lineage). If you have only tested atDNA (FF), then that information is unnecessary. Gail is also co-ordinating a New Zealand Settlers project, and I know that we have many Kiwis on our Australian lists and details are on the FTDNA site. Peter Melbourne
Thanks Sue, it's a good thought. Greetings all, By mistake I have purchased a scanned copy of the death certificate for James Mulcahy, Laborer, aged 28 years, at Bundaberg Hosp. 3 AUG 1888. I was looking for another relative of that name - and have since ruled out this one. As is typical of the time, this is a page containing a number of deaths. The others (all from Bundaberg & surounds) are: Elizabeth Conroy, aged 54, housewife Buckoo, ABT 22 years, laborer Tom, ABT 30 years, laborer Attarm, ABT 25 years, laborer The 3 single name ones all lived on plantations in the area and were unmarried Islander labourers. If anyone is interested in these name, or wants more information, contact me. I can a send a copy of the file off-list. Thanks ... -- Stephen Nicholson, Wollongong.
