Hi Lorrae, Using a bit of deduction.. I think I have the names of Doris Jean Marne ENGLAND's parents. I do not have the fiche. however using ancestry subscription the electoral roll of 1937 lists Doris living at the family home in Fitzgibbon Street Ipswich. Also residing at that address is. Percy ENGLAND Percy ENGLAND Jnr Clifford Francis ENGLAND Allan James ENGLAND no other females listed. Using the assumption that perhaps her mother may have passed away. I looked at the marriage indexes There was a Marriage between a Percy ENGLAND (senior) and a Elizabeth CONDON. as suspected Elizabeth died in 1933. here are the births to Percy and Elizabeth ENGLAND 1909C5039PercyEnglandPercyElizabeth Cordon 1912C6677Francis CliffordEnglandPercyElizabeth Agnes Cordon 1911C5329PercyEnglandPercyElizabeth Corden 1911C5279Alan JamesEnglandPercyElizabeth Agnes Cordon 1914C6804Reginald JackEnglandPercyElizabeth Agnes Gordon I suspect this might be the family you are after. I hope someone else with the fiche will be able to confirm! It seems once you start digging in the newspapers... you will find a whole bunch on the ENGLAND clan! Best of luck with the research Kind Regards Sue. Rule 1 for running a cemetery in Queensland. Give it more than one name just to confuse the genealogists :-) We have North Brisbane/Paddington, Brisbane General/Toowong, South Brisbane/Dutton Park to name a few others in Brisbane. Meanwhile country towns fool you by having far more cemeteries than you could ever have imagined (and of course the people you are seeking are always in the one you didn't visit). My particular favourite is Kalbar. If your relatives were buried in Kalbar (a town of 700 people), you have not one, not two, not three, but, yes, seven different cemeteries to choose from (General, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Salvation Army and two Lutheran). Jan I have the Charters Towers Cemetery Records if you want to give me names. Also Selwyn comes under Cloncurry Shire Council. Regards Kerry (Young)
Hi Everyone Does anyone know if there is an index to the Selwyn Cemetery anywhere.. cheers Jan
Bev this naming often causes some confusion. Balmoral Cemetery is a major cemetery in Morningside, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The cemetery has also been known as Bulimba Cemetery, Morningside Cemetery and Kangaroo Point Cemetery Balmoral Park was originally surveyed in 1864. In 1869, 55 acres were gazetted for the Kangaroo Point cemetery.[2] The cemetery is on the corner of Wynnum and Bennetts Roads in the suburb of Morningside. The cemetery was opened in 1874 with the first burial in that same year. In 1891 the cemetery reserve was reduced to approximately 15 acres to allow more recreational space in Balmoral Park. You are right Marg They are one and the same.. Jan Edmonds Harold Nugent 11 / 07 / 1936 57 years Cemetery: Balmoral Cemetery Street Address: 441 Wynnum Rd, Morningside With him was............ Edmonds Mary 24 / 11 / 1930 65 years I cannot see a link to Harold yet. Then checking a newspaper for a funeral notice and I find him in the Courier Mail with the funeral recorded as him being buried at the Bulimba Cemetery. Not being familiar with Brisbane Cemeteries I was wondering if Balmoral/Bulimba are one and the same, or was there a name change at some time? Or did the newspaper get it wrong?
Greetings Marg In reply to your message below, I have to admit that I delete gated (or gatewayed - whatever!) messages as a matter of course. I have never been able to work out how to reply to them, and sometimes couldn't see where the message was, apart from some introductory wording, so now I don't bother to look at them at all. I wonder if the message board people could be asked to join the regular Mailing List. Don't know if this helps or not.
