    1. [AUS-QLD] George Morris
    2. Glenda via
    3. Hello, looking for ideas or suggestions...I have been looking for the origins of my 2x gt grandfather, George Morris. His son John has on his m/c that he was born in Brisbane. No birth registered in Qld. I have checked most of the b/cs of his children, and there again he says born in Brisbane. On the marriage cert. of John to Sussanah Mary Sayles/Sales he has given his parents as George Morris and Mary Ann Paterson. However, on his d/c his parents are listed as Geo Morris and Mary Hardie...the informant was obviously confused as Mary Hardy/Hardie was the mother of John's wife, Sussanah I have found no married for Geo to Mary Ann Paterson. I have searched using different spelling for Paterson. I have found no other births to this couple, nor deaths for any deceased males. John's birth year would have been 1869/70. I have found a couple of marriages for Mary Ann Paterson/s but they were as late as 1879, 85, 89. It could have been possible that Geo Morris and Mary Ann Paterson never married and then she went on to marry later to someone else. I have found a Geo and John Morris together pre 1895 on rolls, (exact spot not readily recallable, but somewhere close to Warwick). After John marries in the early 1890's, the Geo and John no longer appear together on the electoral rolls. By 1903, John is in Rockhampton. There is a Geo Morris slowly moving north from 'Warwick' and then one appears in Muttaburra. It would appear that this Geo Morris lives with, and eventually marries a Margaret White? who has been married previously. However I have no way of proving this Geo is the father of John. I have tried to check English census for such a family... ie Geo, Mary Ann, and John, but with no success. I tried again today to replicate some information I had re a Geo Morris (by himself) and a Mary Ann Paterson (with her family), arriving on the same ship, but met with no success on Ancestry. They would have only been in their late teens. Does anyone have any ideas of how I might dig further re George and Mary Ann? Glenda

Perhaps Reginald was born on the ship on the way out (as he is unnamed). He is aged 19 when he died in 1930 so this would fit. 3. Thank you Charmaine, I had found this information but was trying to locate Miriam's burial place to find her husband's date of death. Regards Kerrie Hi Kerrie, Craig, Miriam Dorothy, born 14..2.1920 at Port Pirie, SA; died 13.9.05 at Esther Somerville Nursing Home, Normanhurst,NSW. On 18.7.40 she married Ron. She is survived by her husband, Pastor Ron Craig(Sydney); her sons, Pastor Adrian(Cooranbong), Dr Bryan (Sydney) and Dr Winston (Berrien Springs, USA); and her daughter, Suzanne Craig (Sydney, NSW).Miriam was a caring, tender hearted mother who adored her family and loved people. She was a true mum and a loyal, faithfulwife. She is affectionately remembered by her husband, four children, five grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and three great-grandsons. Can't see any reference to her husband dying. Charmaine Hi Could anyone tell me how I could access a list of those people interred at Mt Thompson Memorial Gardens at Brisbane? I have a Miriam Dorothy CRAIG who died 13 Sep 2005 and I am trying to find out when her husband (who survived her) Ronald David Craig (born 1920) died. They were Seventh Day Adventist. I have checked the Brisbane City Council cemetery list and they are not listed. So I thought Mt Thompson might be worth a look. Many thanks Kerrie NSW Please remember to snip most of the earlier message before you post any reply...... 3. You can contact the Qld Library and use their "Ask a Librarian" service, and they will send you a copy of the death/funeral notice, which should answer your question. Find the form to complete on the address below - http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/services/ask-us Cheers Janet
