    3. There would have been inquests into the deaths of at least the three sailors whose bodies were recovered, possibly also into the others who must be "presumed drowned". If not an inquest, then a Commission of Inquiry which seems to be more the norm in service incidents. I suggest that you contact the Defense Department in Canberra and ask them what information they have - and what they will allow you to see. Cheers Barbara

    3. This is not my family, but I am always up for a challenge and this one has me stumped. Sort of. Flora Friederike illeg. d/o Jane MACKENZIE of Toowoomba was born 8 March 1899. I cannot find a suitable entry in Qld births but using the date I came across a Flora Friederike BLACK registered. There is a Flora MACKENZIE married to a Matthew James OSBERG in 1938. Is this the same Flora reverting back to her mother's name? I cannot seem to find a death for a young Flora MACKENZIE-BLACK, nor can I find a death for a Flora OSBERG. But there is one for Matthew James OSBERG on Qld deaths. Has anyone lost a Flora Friederike, if so then this might be your lass. Hoping it helps someone if they have a brick wall. Regards Bev

    3. Hello Robyn, If you have already checked newspapers (Trove) and Electoral Rolls without success, you could always try the 'Townsville and District Historical Society'. Perhaps the Salvation Army may hold some historical records: The Salvation Army Australia Eastern Territory 140 Elizabeth Street Sydney NSW 2000 PO Box A435 Sydney South NSW 1235 Phone: (02) 9264 1711 The 1880s were a busy time in Townsville's development. Sometimes you have to dig deeply and in unusual places. Was 'Edwin Lee' the father of those listed in your email - I haven't had a chance to check the 'Coruna' 1884 listings. Keep us all posted on your findings! Good hunting! 3. Hello List A person on Face Book from SA has posted a message, with photo of a locket with a soldier in side. Has anyone lost a Rose Gold Locket at Mt Gambier, SA about 10 years ago? The locket has initials on the front and a photo of a soldier inside. The finder would love to return it to its rightful owner as it's sure to have great sentimental value for someone. You can contact me, and I'll get you in touch with the finder. Regards Beryl
