    3. Barbara. This is not Leonora`s father ,but very close to mine in age (born 1837) ,and being 44 in 1883 would make him born abt 1839 ,so it may be mine, who knows. Is it possible to find anything more on this Lars Olsen dying at Brisbane Hospital ,of "phtisis" 16 Aug 1883 as a sailmaker????. .......allthough my Lars Olsen is said to live in US 1885 when his mother died...... 1. Re: [AUS-QLD] Lookup - Death - Edward James SMITH 02Apr1951
    2. Lorrae
    3. Thanks Jules Not really possible . . . Yet possible maybe James Edward SMITH (s/- Richard SMITH and Mary Bessie SMITH) married Gertrude Agnes SAUNDERS in 1916. Gertrude was a spinster aged 37 years. If she had any children, none of her family knew. None are listed on her death cert. (Does not mean that she did not have any!!) I thought the Edward James SMITH who died on 02Apr1951 was an elder man. He left his considerable estate (1,527 pounds) to his spinster sister - Henrietta May SMITH, who died a few months after him - 30Nov1951. His brother, Sydney George SMITH, then claimed the estate, based on his sister's will. There was nothing in the file to indicate the name of their parents. I was considering that if I found the death, I could confirm any linkage. I did find these births: 1901/C11486 Smith Sydney George Sydney Turpin Annie Hoffie 1903/C10273 Smith Edward James Sydney Turpin Annie Hoffie 1909/C12160 Smith Bert Andrew Sydney Turpin Annie Hoffie But I was hoping that the death would confirm it. However, my main hope is still to locate James Edward SMITH There is no record of his death so far - certainly not in the Cunnamulla area where he lived with Gertrude. Gertrude died in 11Nov1951 in Cunnamulla. The Qld Commonwealth electoral roll database 1934 (Qld FHS) lists Gertrude SMITH & James Thomas SMITH in Francis St, Cunnamulla - and James Edward SMITH at Grant's Slaughter Yard, Cunnamulla I do not know who James Thomas SMITH was, or if he was related, or even why Gertrude was not living at the same address of James Edward SMITH. 2. Lorrae
    3. Thanks Alan and Deb Now that makes sense too. The link Deb provided showed that: It was on the side of a hill and was largely timber and corrugated iron panels. The front of the depot was at street level, but owing to the slope of the site, the rear of the depot was supported by a forest of timber supports, some over 50 feet (15 m) high. The State Library of Qld shows: http://blogs.slq.qld.gov.au/jol/2009/06/01/paddington/ 1915 - Paddington Tram Depot constructed. Samuel POLLARD died on 2 April 1915 as a result of an accident at work - he was a Tramway Fitter. I need to do more research here to determine his cause of death - more than what would be recorded on his death cert. 3. I have thought of name variations for Leonora ,but her surname should be Olsen. According to Alumni lists she had the Olsen name in 1949 in Brisbane etc ,but couldn`t be found dead in the area. I`m not sure if she is the daughter of my Lars either since I don`t know the birth year of Leonora Olsen`s father. But Leonora`s father was named Lars Olsen. I`m now waiting to see the deatch certificate of a Lars Olsen that died in Moree 1909 aged 67. It`s 5 years off so I doubt it`s my Lars (born 1837) ,but worth a check. Maybe I should find out some more before I ask for your help again. That would probably make it easier to find Lars ,IF I can find more on him or his family. Still trying to find the picture of his daughter. Thanks again for your help. 3. Hi Lorrae Didnt the Channel keep copies of the live show.....................I contacted Channel 2 requesting copies of live football matches that my Husband played in... also unfortunately for Me the ones I wanted were lost in the floods of 1974... they could have given me copies of ones after that but not the ones before ... So they do keep copies of live shows....................................................At the same time I asked how I could get copies of the Movie News that was shown in the Picture theatres.... and they gave me a Canberra Address for the Film Archives to get the Movie News films of the footy matches I wanted... and they had it.............I got 3 minutes of My Husband's Father playing footy for Queensland in the 1930's something he loves as his Dad died when he was only 2 months old. and he only ever had one photo of him.... I am surprised that there are no copies around of Romper Room as it was quite popular......It was on Channel 7 Here in Brisbane... Janelle is right There are Archives for these things Jan
