When my 2xgreat grandparents married in April 1877 in Springsure, their marriage certificate shows they were : "married at residence of Thomas CAHILL" There is still a CAHILL family in Springsure, and I have no idea if there is a connection - I do not think so as their ancestor was Joseph Michael CAHILL born in 1884 in Mandamar, NSW. Moreton Bay cemeteries sure have gone online... I went into the website and found several aunts and uncles...and even my rellie whose father was KIA when he was not yet born... It was such a pity that he died before I could show him the photo of his father's grave on the Somme. Thanks for letting us know Marg.. Hi Mary, You're very welcome -- looks like it's all starting to add up for you. I'm not researching the Musgraves specifically, but I am doing some historical research in the Coen area and remembered seeing the name in the Police Gazettes ... so serendipity, really. As you might be aware, Musgrave is quite a prominent name in that area, though I'm not sure whether there is a connection to your particular Musgraves there -- if I come across anything further, though, I'll certainly let you know. Although I had most of the information, I was not able to find a death for Catherine Musgrave, 2nd wife of Henry, only her baby's death aged 0 in 1896 the same year of their marriage. I was suspicious that she might have died in/after birth but surprised that her name was not mentioned with her baby in the Historical Indexes. Of course, not all names are coming up. So thankyou for finding her death for me and all the other interesting information about Henry and 3rd wife Jean/Jane with the dates of their time at the Hotels. I am currently searching the last of his chldren, Herbert Cecil Musgrave and Jenelle has just emailed me saying that I should have received an email from Julie Dern showing the death of Herbert and buried in Brisbane Cemetery. I have not received this email as at this moment. This also happened with an email full of info from Jenelle...she had to resend it. Are you researching the Mulgraves also Deborah? Or just helping out? Anyway, many thanks for your help with this family...it is really appreciated. Kind regards, Mary

Mary, this was Julie's reply re Herbert Cecil Musgrave, burial and marriage. I suggest you print these messages out or save them in a file... I got all these messages so should have you, as I said if you miss anything go back to the archives. If you google about you will see another person has been looking for this family, but the messages are old, their email may not work. I googled Henry Musgrave and Kate Ide McElroy. Jenelle. http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/aus-qld/2009-07/1248324800

Mary, I note you've already received quite a lot of information from Jenelle and others on and off the list, but thought I would pass on these couple of snippets from the Queensland Police Gazette for your records, too. The Queensland Police Gazette has a Henry MUSGRAVE, licensed victualler at the National Hotel, at Mt Molloy, Chillagoe district, for the period 1907-1910. The gazette for 24 December 1910 then has H. MUSGRAVE transferring the licence for the National Hotel to W. BRACHON. The Queensland Police Gazette for 22 June 1912 then has a Jean MUSGRAVE taking over the licence for the Klondyke Hotel, at Klondyke, Chillagoe district, from Mary WHITAKER. The 1913 Gazette has a Jane MUSGRAVE as the licensee of the Klondyke Hotel, but typos are not uncommon in this source. I didn't see any references to either MUSGRAVE in the 1913 or 1914 Gazettes. This accords well with electoral roll data, from Ancestry, which I think you already have ... 1913 - Kennedy - Chillagoe -- MUSGRAVE, Henry, Klondyke, licensed victualler; MUSGRAVE, Jean, Klondyke, home duties 1919 - Kennedy - Thornborough -- MUSGRAVE, Henry, Wolfram, licensed victualler 1925 - Kennedy - Chillagoe -- MUSGRAVE, Henry, Chillagoe, Cook 1930 - Kennedy - Chillagoe -- MUSGRAVE, Henry, Chillagoe, Cook ... and with the BDM data, which I think you have already, too, but which includes the marriage to Kate Ide McELROY (daughter of Peter McELROY and Catherine SMITH) in 1889 (#1889/C121) and her death in 1891 (#1891/C367); the marriage to Catherine O'REILLY (daughter of William Henry ANDREWS and Catherine O'REILLY) in 1896 (#1896/C238) and her death the same year (#1896/C507); and the marriage to Emily Jane GALBRAITH (daughter of Edward GALBRAITH and Elizabeth GORDON) at Woollahra in 1897 (NSW BDM 8758/1897) and her death in Queensland in 1917 (#1917/C2882). All the best with your search, Deb, in sunny Brisbane

Mary, I gave you the burial details of Henry in Cairns... there is another Musgrave with him. Now that you have the exact burial details use the Ask a Librarian to see if there is any funeral notice. Henry's death certificate should show (if the informant knew this), all marriages, surviving children, deceased children... Did you look out of the state of Queensland for Catherine's death. Alot of the time they didn't divorce - just started again.. I thought Catherine Musgrave died 1896 and you had her registration number.. There would certainly be a headstone and more than likely will have the name Sr. Mary Leonard/Sr. M. Leonard [Surname]. One of the Orders, and I think it was Mercy (says she of the frizzled brain cells), always took the religious name of Mary Something. Each order generally had a sizeable plot in a cemetery where all of their sisters were interred together, and in a large cemetery, you will often find the plots grouped together. Might I suggest that you locate (google perhaps) the Sisters of Mercy and find the address of their Mother House in Queensland. Write to the Archivist asking for information on Sr Mary Leonard, enclosing a small donation (I have no idea what a 'small' donation is, but it will be appreciated for photocopying, postage, time, etc.) You might also like to check Electoral Rolls - nuns were enrolled under their own names but the occupation and address is a giveaway - (often) Teacher, St. Whosit's Convent. Cheers Barbara
No I haven't checked, thanks for your advice. will try those.
