    3. Dennis, do you have any certificates of any other family members that may mention him, go through the newspapers online through http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home maybe there are funeral notices for family members and also check the electoral rolls for him. Check the www.familysearch.org or www.rootsweb.com click world global connect page. 3. I think that I have previously asked this question with no luck so I will give it another go now. An ancestor Francis Nicholson died in 1914 probably in NSW and probably in Sydney. I have looked at the NSW Indexes with no luck. There is an inscription on the family grave in Townsville stating that he died in 1914, but again there it nothing on the Qld Indexes. After 1889 the family name changed to Nicholls/Nichols. Can anyone suggest a course of action? I know that there are many very clever people out there who may be able to help. Dennis Schinkel

    2. Barbara Robinson
    3. Lorrae These indexes are not new, this is the type of index all societies have, you will find them at the Toowoomba & Drayton Society, Ipswich Society, Genealogical Society. Qld Family History Society, State Library and most of the major societies in each State, even the LDS Centres have them. If you are going to State Library you will need to get there early as the mornings are usually busy, the "Micrographics sections" as this section is called is on the Floor 3 State Library at the very back of the floor, you will need to walk past all the computers on the right and the rows of music information, along past the photocopy room on your right and turn the corner and you will find the area where the computer/film fiche readers are and the rows of films of newspapers and some microfiche readers. Unfortunately the "powers that be" have not allowed much spare in the building and on this floor for such a busy section. 2. Gay Fielding
    3. http://avonvalleycollection.bravehost.com/ The Avon Valley Collection - Western Australia The Jan James Avon Valley Collection is a life time's work. The transcripts of Birth, Baptism, Marriage and Death begin circa 1841. These records are supported by Shire burial registers, Funeral Director's records, headstone inscriptions and many other items. Included is Jan's Index of Mug Shots and charges from Police Gazettes concerning those from the Avon Valley who were sentenced of a crime and served time in Fremantle Prison prior to 1952. I must admit I haven't found the Mug Shots yet...but I have found some of WA rellies... Cheers Gay
