Dear Listers Some of you are letting the standards drop and there have been some sloppy posts in the past few days For it to work mailing list mail MUST be in a readable format by all ,other wise " why bother " If someone sends a query to the list , they have copy in their SENT mail box and in their IN mail as by default copy is sent to all subscribers. So thats 2 copies they have and everyone else has one. Say 2 or 3 or more subscribers reply and dont delete any previous text its sort of breeding like rabbits and this poor person who asked the question has multiples copies of their query plus possibly other queries too, if some dear sole has sent back a whole digest of messages ............... And the whole shebang is archived Please take a second or so to check if there are any taglines such as To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-QLD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message and DELETE them and any other detritus text before you hit 'SEND' so it keeps mail neat , tidy and readable Many thanks MargM QLD List Admin

Erin, No, I understand the hassles the Registrar General causes. I think you need 3 items for identification & probably a letter from your Mum. Birth indexes only go to 1919, no matter where you look. These are on microfiche, as are the latter marriages & deaths & are available in most Family History Libraries. Abraham John WINDLEY & Margaret PEARCE, married 23.6.1921. It was a country marriage. Margaret WINDLEY, died Ayr 24.9.1941, aged 72 (1941/005121, daughter of - NOBLE & - FERRIS), aged 72, buried Ayr Cemetery 24th. Abraham WINDLEY, died 17.12.1936 (1936/004051), son of William WINDLEY & Charlotte ARNOLD. Albert Roy, died 5.5.1955 (1955/B007461), son of Abraham WINDLEY & Catherine BATTLINI. I noticed in the death indexes, there is a John Abraham WINDLEY, married Rachel WARING. They had a daughter Clarice Evelyn who died Brisbane 8.5.1933 (1933/B020461). 1922 Electoral Roll Abraham John, Labourer, Margaret, Home Duties, MacMillan St., Ayr. Abraham John, Teamster, Frederick Walter, Labourer, both Waterworks, Charters Towers. 1934 Roll Abraham John, Labourer, & Margaret, Home Duties, MacMillan St., Ayr. Abraham, No occupation, 150 Kent Lane, Rockhampton. Frederick Walter, Labourer & Margaret Elizabeth, Home Duties, Macknade, Ingham. 1949 Roll Abraham John, Grand Secret, View St., Charters Towers. Frederick Walter, Labourer & Margaret Elizabeth, Home Duties, Home Duties, Cnr. Bayswater & Charters Rds., Townsville. Ronald Francis, Pastrycook, Gracemere Flats, Sturt St., Townsville. In my database I have this one. Ronald Francis WINDLEY, of Noosaville, formerly of Brisbane, born Charters Towers 22.7.1924 & died 12.9.2007, aged 83, husband of Joyce, father & father-in-law of Ken & Barbie, Mark & Christine, Peter & Wendy, grandfather of Jodie (dec), Kylie & Lloyd, Todd, Nikki, Melanie, David & Andriana, Leisa, Rosemary, Nicholas & Elizabeth. Hi Elaine, I do have ancestry but the records I really need are later than are available. These people appear in quite a few trees with varying degrees of accuracy and details. The Nobles are the rare ones but the Pearce and Windley family are in many trees. Thanks anyway - I will have to try and find other types of records to track them as the BMD available anywhere are not recent enough. Jules, I have read emails out of synch (yours went into spam for some odd reason). Thanks for the info. So it is a no go on more recent births then. What about later electoral rolls! You have 1949 - where can I get that and/or later? Also you have the death record for the Windley of Noosaville - where did you get that? I have a number of other people in this family who are "vanished" for a while and they all more recent. I am just gathering myself together after a lapse in chasing family. This family have messed about something shocking with multiple marriages and births. One thing I am becoming more certain about is that they kept crossing paths especially with each others spouses and brothers etc. Margaret Noble(born 1870)/Pearce(m1889)/Windley(m1921) is my G-Grandmother and I am informed that she had more children than I have found and after her 1921 marriage as well. Her father was Francois Noble so Ronald Francis is a strong contender except she wasn't in Charters Towers in 1924 (electoral rolls). I see you are in NSW - these people all from Moruya and Goulburn who for some reason moved around 1890 to Charters Towers. Abe Windley had 10 children in marriage 1, 1 in marriage 2 and maybe 1 to Margaret. I even think he snuck in another marriage in between. My Grandmother Violet seems to have more siblings than I knew and maybe even with her husbands step brother. So you can the maze that is addling my mind! The certificates in QLD are quite expensive especially when you need a few to get more detail. Are you sure there are no transcription agents in QLD ? Thanks again for all your help/advice Erin (OZ in UK - ex Townsville) -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of julie dern Sent: 22 September 2009 19:57 To: aus-qld@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Queensland Births after 1914 - Any tricks to finding? Elaine, There is bound to be "always" something when looking for family!!! I am looking for records after 1919 , 1929 etc. I am trying to find the more recent records for this particular part of the family. The majority of the Windley/Noble/Pearce family came from Moruya in NSW and somewhere around 1890 they ALL start to appear in Charters Towers and after that Ayr and Townsville and seem to be intrinsically connected. I am trying to unravel who, where, what and why. Example: Margaret Pearce was born Margaret Noble in Moruya, married John Pearce( from same area) in 1889 (Ch. Towers ) then he drowned in 1921 and a couple of months later she marries Abe Windley in Charters Towers. Abe Windley was born in Moruya also. They appear to be linked from their births to their deaths - so I am trying to unravel it. Abe was married 3 times (at least so far) in NSW and QLD. It also looks as though they "exchanged" wives on several occasions - lots of second and third marriages a few within the family group!!! Margaret Noble/Pearce/Windley is my G-Grandmother. It is "said" that she had more children than I can currently find - that is why I would like to see records after 1914 etc. Any advice is always gratefully received, so thanks Erin (OZ in UK) ----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Elaine Rogers Sent: 22 September 2009 20:11 To: aus-qld@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Queensland Births after 1914 - Any tricks to finding? Can anyone connect with John NICHOLSON who married Rosalie McINTYRE 25 May 1913 I dont know if this couple had any children there ... Rosalie is the Dau of John McINTYRE and Ellen WHITE ...I know nothing more about John Hope someone has them in their tree Jan.
Jules, I am looking for births from a 1921 marriage and the details of the marriage. I am in the UK (pretty late now) and can access the on-line BDM records . BUT can you access the later records in a library/archives or are they not available even for viewing? I know that unless you are direct relative etc. etc. that you can't get a copy of these later records . I have been trying to get my mother's birth certificate from here. She is over 80 and not so well so can't get out to get it and I am sure you know the amount of paperwork I would need to get signed by her to get it. Surely my birth certificate would prove that I am her daughter?? (Bit of a rant and moan there - sorry). Big thanks for the offer though. BUT while I have you - why are there no transcription services in QLD? I am sure you have been asked before! So be patient. Many thanks ERin -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of julie dern Sent: 22 September 2009 17:11 To: aus-qld@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Queensland Births after 1914 - Any tricks to finding? Erin, I can have a look at births to 1919, marriages to 1939 & deaths to 1964. What names are you after. Cheers, Jules. Warren, NSW. Hi Elaine, I am looking for a few things : Possible birth records from marriage of Abraham Windley and Margaret Pearce (married 1921 QLD) and also the details of their marriage record. I am not sure if she married the father or the son in this family. Is it possible to look at birth records after 1914? The indexes on-line only go to 1914 and the site states you can't get a certificate for a birth less than 100 years (thus 1919) BUT it doesn't say whether you can see them in the library? If not what other sources might be possible? Thanks for the help Erin -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Elaine Rogers Sent: 22 September 2009 16:55 To: aus-qld@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Queensland Births after 1914 - Any tricks to finding? Does anyone have any good advice about trying to find QLD births after 1914 and marriages and deaths after 1929? I believe that you can't get copies unless you meet lots of criteria but is it possible to even see or find them anywhere? Thanks Erin (OZ in UK)
Colin, The QLD indexes show Maurice MOORE, died Brisbane 13.9.1956 (1956/B015977), son of Thomas MOORE & Mary Ann BYRNE. Buried 15th, Toowong Cemetery, Brisbane. You could apply for his death &/or funeral notices using the 'ask a librarian' service provided by the QLD State Library. Give full date of death & location & you may gleen a little more information on his family. http://wrms.slq.qld.gov.au/callsubmit/tpwebcallentry.asp Cheers, Jules. Warren, NSW.
