All WW1 deaths were registered in 1922 because there was not a complete list of the dead and there were some that were obviously missing. Until full details were provided from the military and a complete list of those were compiled. Hence why they are marked F1922. meaning Foreign 1922. Please note that contrary to common belief those that died overseas were not returned to Australia. With the exception of the unknown soldier interred in the war memorial. Hi List, Looking for the burial place of Alexander James HALL he was born 7 Oct 1867 and died 26 Apr 1869. Birth and death were registered in Brisbane. While it is great that the Qld BMs have been extended, there are so many problems with the Online BMDs I hope they can correct them soon... I checked up on a War Death in my family.. which occurred on the Somme 1 September 1918 . He is buried in Peronne Cemetery,, but with the new Index I would never have searched the Commonwealth War Graves site, or the Australian War Memorial site... It is on the Qld BMDs site, but the year is listed as 1922 without a Code for a Forces death.. This shows absolutely no respect to those who fought and died for us.. Since the Qld birth indexes only go to 1914, Joseph may have been born in 1915. Do you know if the two girls married as their deaths would be recorded under their married names in that case? Also death indexes only go to 1964, so they are likely to have outlived that cut-off. Again, if you have a reason to think they died earlier than that, let us know what information you have. Just letting you know that I have written to the Justice Dept, asking for the introduction of Wild Cards for the online Historical Index. and demonstrated just how helpful it would be for my Habermann lot.. I also asked for the reinstatement of the Historical index prefixes such as B; C; M; F; etc, etc.. Sorry Marge, I didn't get into the date format...I didn't want the letter to be a litany of complaint after com plaint . I realised there are several other annoying problems, such as the Security popup, everytime you try to move from one page to another.. That is going a bit over the top.. Perhaps someone else can write and back up my request for Wild Cards, and add a bit more about other annoying facets of the site...as you find them. Cheers Gay
