Hi everyone! I have found a death for an Annie Maria MURPHY 1941/2122 Qld with no parents mentioned on index. I am hoping someone can confirm that she died / buried in Rockhampton and was the daughter of Peter Charles McBOW and Maria CALLABY. Her husband was Peter Murphy and they married in 1879 Rockhampton. Thanks for any help with this. I also cannot find deaths for her parents Peter Charles McBow and Maria Callaby. Best wishes, Judy mailto:sajones@bigpond.net.au For information about my Genealogy Interests: http://sajones.bigblog.com.au/
Hi List I am hoping someone recognizes the following names.... and can find the connection . I have a bit of a jigsaw at the moment... I have found a Charles Erle MIERS died 1950 buried with my Ellen HILDER Checking the online Index I find that Charles Erle is the son of Charles Erle MIERS and Betty Ada WATTS Ellen HILDER is the dau of Henry HILDER and Mary Ann TIBBITS *** who are my Family from my Mothers side.... My Husband's Family has a Charles Erle MIERS married to Amy WHITNEY...married 1918.. and because the index only goes to 1919 I have only one child for them...I suspect that the Charles Erle who is the Father of Charles who died 1950 could be son of Charles Erle and Amy WHITNEY.. Charles Erle who married Amy WHITNEY born 31-8-1895 died in Rockhampton in 1948..son of William MIERS and Mirrian CARTER Charles Erle The Father of the boy who died in 1950 is married to Betty Ada WATTS...now I believe that Betty Ada is connected to the WATTS Family of Rockhampton and Mt. Morgan... which is my Brother in Law's Grandmother's Family..His Grand Parents being George LORRAWAY and Edith Alice WATTS Edith Alice had 6 Brothers so Betty Ada may be the Dau of one of them..... I have yet to find the connection to the HILDER or TIBBITS Family to explain why the Two children are buried together... as far as I know its not a public grave.. Charles Erle and Edith moved to Brisbane as their Son is buried in Toowong...They also had a daughter Roslind Margaret who died in 1953 age 6 weeks and is buried in South Bisbane... 1949 ELECTORAL ROLL There is no Betty Ada WATTS or Charles Erle MIERS... there is a Betty WATTS at Mount MOrgan Home duties same place as a William John WATTS (Watchmaker)could be Brother and Sister or Husband and Wife... ???? My guess is that they werent old enough yet... To complicate things even further Henry HILDER's Brother William married Mary Ann TIBBITS Aunty Louisa STAPLETON but so far I have not been able to connect this STAPLETON Family to My Husband's STAPLETON's if I could that could possibly explain the connection and why the children are buried together... Because these are later records I am hoping someone recognizes the names and can show some light on the connection of all these FAmilies cheers Jan No virus found in this outgoing message. Hi Julie and Elaine, Thank you for those records, I'll try and sort them out. There are a couple who don't belong to me that I know of , the one from Pimpama, and it seems the James Patrick ORR who was at Stephen St, had parents that I feel sure don't belong to this family. This hunt for ORR's at South Brisbane began a few weeks ago, when a cousin found a notice in "The Argus":- snip>The Argus, Saturday 23 July 1853,Classified Ad. Mr.William Orr- If this should meet the eye of the above party(or any of his family),formally of Bourtra Hill,Ayrshire, Scotland, they will hear from their two Cousins, John And James Orr,who are now in Melbourne, and may be heard of at McLeans,Bucks Head Hotel,Little Lonsdale Street,West;or address by letter to John Orr,South Brisbane,Morton Bay,New South Wales.<<<< I have found numerous snippets re the Butcher business of an ORR family at South Brisbane, plus Death and Birth notices etc. snip>>eg:- Eli Hallet, of Huddersfield, England, died on September 24, 1866, aged 28 years. His father was a butcher, and with J. and W. Orr, then butchers of South Brisbane. Jane Orr, who died on March 15, 1863, at 58 years of age, was the wife of an old South Brisbane butcher of the firm of J. and W. Orr. Her daughter, Margaret, died on December 25, 1870, aged 23.<<<< So I've been trying to trace these fellows, John and James, or their offspring I should say, because I think I have their death dates already. Of course, I don't know who they married, so it's all very patchy. Is anyone interested in this family??? Cheers, Jill
Sue, The 1934 Electoral Roll shows Samuel, Prospector & Lois, Home Duties at Forsayth. Neither show up on the 1949 Roll. I had a look at the Tully Cemetery register & Samuel isn't buried there. Hi I have found the death of a Samuel Green 1960 on the Queensland Deaths Index 1960/38352 - I am reasonably sure he is the husband of a Lois Geraldine (nee Nobbs) married 1919 in Sydney - Lois was much younger than Samuel so she may have outlived him by upto 40 years. I was wondering is there anyway of telling by the Death Registration No. where he may have died. E/Rolls suggest he was living in the Tully area in 1930's. Lois Geraldine is my line of interest so I am really trying to find a death for her. She was born Feb 1900 Queensland parents Reuben Elias Nobbs & Mary Maude Griffin. Again E/R suggest she may have been living apart from him - 1954 she could be the Lois Geraldine Green at Bondi in NSW. The Lois Green listed on Ryerson Index who died in 1980 is not mine - Thankyou Suzanne

Hi everyone, Could I have a look-up for James, John or William ORR in the Electoral Rolls between 1900 and 1910, for South Brisbane please? Many thanks, Jill
Hello Virginia, In the late 1890 a boat load of people sailed from Sydney on board the "Royal Tar" for Argentina, and a lot of them ended up in Paraguay. They left Australia looking for Utopia, but although quite a few of them returned to Australia (their fares paid by relatives still living in Australia) and others who could not raise the fares actually stayed there. Their establishment was called "New Australia", and more people followed the first boatload. There is quite a bit written about this, so check out Google. It could be what you are looking for. There are quite a few articles in the Maryborough Chronicle about this. Cheers Janet
Hi List I am hoping you can help me in research into the JACKSON family - who came to Australia in 1853 and settled in the Ballarat district. They had 6 children in total - one of whom is Margaret JACKSON. She married William Henry THOMAS - and I cannot find a death for either of them?? But............. it is possible they ended up in Argentina and died there!? Why you ask, well this is what I know Margaret JACKSON (b 1854 Ballart d?? F: William Robinson JACKSON II M: Maria YOUNG) m 1872 Stawell William Henry THOMAS (b 1852 Adelaide d between 1891 & 1899 as he is listed as deceased on his fathers death cert F: William THOMAS M: Mary Ann HARRIS - orginially from Cornwall, UK) They had the following children: Adelaide (b 1873 Pleasant Cr - cant find definite marriage for her or death) William Robert (b 1875 Pleasant Cr - cant find a definite marriage or death) John Henry (b 1877 Pleasant Cr - may have married Gertrude OCKENFELS in QLD - but not confirmed - cant find a death) James Edward (b 1879 Pleasent Cr - married Mary Gray BAIRD in Qld - had 5 children d 1940 Charters Towers. Mary died Sydney 1945) Clara Maria (b 1881 Pleasant Cr - may have married John Birger ERICKSEN and moved to the US - unconfirmed. Have found a Clara and John ERICKSEN on the 1920 US Census though) may also have been in the Charleville area running pubs/hotels, again unconfirmed. somewhere here the family moved to Charters Towers Harry (b 1888 - probably Charters Towers - cant find a marriage - or a death) Harold (b 1890 in Charters Towers - in 1916 he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and listed that he was living in the US and his next of kin was his Mother Margaret THOMAS - who was living in Bahia Blanca Buones Aires (??) - no idea when she went over there or where from and if she went with William Henry - her husband.) Laura (b Qld - probably Charters Towers - cant find a death or marriage) I have checked all the on line BMD's and also the SA cds at the historical centre to no real avail. I have checked some of the Qld electoral rolls and I think I found a couple of them - William Henry (father) 1878 Dalby-Northern Downs Western Railway and also 1878 Palmer-Cook 6mth Residence Sandy Creek - I dont know if it is him - given that it conflicts with the kids being born in Pleasant Cr - but he coulda been up in Qld doing work I suppose? 1889 William Henry Residence Miner St, Charters Towers - so that fits - I could not find him again - but as I say - I could not get some of the discs to work? 1903 Clara THOMAS Rifle Range Rd, Domestic Duties One Mile, Wide Bay 1903 James Edward Mount Windsor Miner Charters Towers Kennedy 1903 John Henry Powlathanga Siding Labourer Balfe's Creek Kennedy 1903 William Robert Church St Miner Charters Towers Kennedy - but am not sure on this one 1913 James Edward Sayer St Miner Charters Towers Kennedy 1913 John Henry Nagle St Miner Charters Towers Kennedy I have contacted the Charters Towers Historical people and they can confirm that the only one of the family to die in Charters Towers is James Edward - none others!?? So what I was really hoping to find out is whether or not there is any record of the family - or members there of - getting on any boats and heading out of Australia and possibly towards Argentina - there is quite alot on the immigration of Cornish and Welsh people making their way to Argentina. I dont know any dates or even years - only that it was before 1916!! I dont know if they died in Argentina or maybe even the US? So there is my quandry - out of 10 people I can only account for 1 - well maybe 2 - I know that Harold joined up - but after that I dont know whether he died in the US or in Australia - and I cant believe that out of 8 kids - no descendants are searching for them?? There is one other lady on ancestry.com - but she has told me she knows nothing and that she is only putting in the information for her daughter in law. If anyone could give me some tips, clues, ideas or information I would be most grateful - I have been working on this family for quite some time and am restricted to mainly internet searching due to my 'relatively' remote location. I look forward to hearing from you in the future. kind regards Virginia Mt Isa _________________________________________________________________ For more of what happens online Head to the Daily Blob on Windows Live http://windowslive.ninemsn.com.au/blog.aspx
I have hit many a brick wall on these families. Yesterday I recieved a ccopy of Thomas Finn & Bridget McNamarra's marriage certificate which really didn't tell me much. Would you like a copy.
