As a Christmas gift to you all, we have finished indexing our headstone photo collection for: * Pimpama Island cemetery * Pimpama Uniting cemetery Pimpama is between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and the Pimpama Island cemetery (with its nearby Lutheran and Apostolic churches) in particular has many German family names, reflecting the German settlement of the Logan River area. Hi there Carolyn, Florence Nightingale Meyer was my great-aunt. I often wonder at the effect that being named after this great woman had on her own life. Was she teased? Was she proud of the fact? Did she hide it? Did people assume that because she was named as such that she had her own wisdom to impart. Alas I never met her. My Florence came from hard working German immigrants - and I think overall the Meyer and Nicholson families worked out pretty well! I assume this is because we did indeed come from "Good Stock" :-) Sense of humour totally intact. Cheers and all the best, and good hunting for the next year, to everyone on the list. -- Stephen On 23 Dec 2009, at 7:20 PM, cmhart wrote: > According to "HOYLE" or whoever wrote this and posted on the Net. > This > Florence obviously came from "GOOD STOCK" ;-) . > MERRY XMAS ALL. Yes Elaine, As I got this info not only from the State Librarian Qld service, Kerry Hall and I think it was Jenelle McCarrick. They could have moved anywhere, after that. I have also a Queenie Moffatt marrying a Arthur Connolly in 1933, so may go down that line. Dear List, I have a Queenie Croucher born 1-7-1908 and married Andrew Moffatt on the 3-12 1929 Qld. On trying to get their marriage cert, I was informed i had to get their familys permision first. Now it is the family of that couple who I need to find, as they are my 2nd cousins and they are probably blissfully unaware they have other cousins, as i was 20 years ago. Any help here would be appretiated. A Very Merry Christmas everyone. Sue
