Hi janet, I would like some help. Have been researching my husbands GGGfather George Robinson. We think he came out approx 1834 going by his time in Qld. he bought land in Maryborough qld in the 1850's also land and hotel at Muskett flats, now known as Elliott. My hope is to find where he came into australia, did he come in as a remittence man, story goes his father sent him and his brother [ Benjamin] to Australia, as they were caught deer poaching on Duke of Athols' property, The 2 boys changes their name from Robertson to Robinson Have found some George Robinson coming in but as we do not have the parents first names are having trouble trying to match up parents he was b edinburgh 1815. Any help would be appreciated. thank you, June Robinson -----> > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Hello Qld Listers, Some time ago K Raymond gave us some information about two uncles we had in Queensland. I wonder if she is still on this list and if so could she contact me with regard to Rose Potter. Thanks, Mary Ann South Australia
There are many reasons why & here is an example: My Aunt & her husband were married in the chapel at the Princess Alexander Hospital in 1976, however, the marriage itself wasn’t registered until about 15 years ago. The paper work had fallen down behind a filing cabinet & wasn’t found until there was a refurbishment done on the office room of which it was taken after the ceremony. Christine.
If you make a telephone call to the BDM office, and explain the discrepancy in dates, they may look at the original for you to check for transcription errors.Hope this helps.Estelle > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2012 05:40:56 +1000 > Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] RE a difference in dates? > > James, thanks for the date as I did not know it. James, thanks for the date as I did not know it. If you put the date into BDM on line and get all who were married on the date it shows them there also, so the CD and the online records are the same. Maybe they followed up the records and found that they were lost in the post or the records were recorded late at BDM. Bridget is my first cousin twice removed and I would like to know the answer to this question also. I am related to the Rafter side and maybe we could help each other as I have a lot of Rafter records. Which side are you related to, Plant or Rafter? Colin Has anybody come across anything similar to what I have below and can anyone offer an explanation for the vast difference in the actual year of marriage and the year it was registered: On the Qld Marriage microfiche and CD we have Samuel Plant married Bridget Rafter on the 8th April 1903 and their first child born later that year.........No problem but if you look further it has the reference number 1911/003292 which to me, means the marriage didn't get registered until 1911..........................an eight year gap? Why?
Minister forgot to send in the paperwork?
Hi fellow listers, Has anybody come across anything similar to what I have below and can anyone offer an explanation for the vast difference in the actual year of marriage and the year it was registered: On the Qld Marriage microfiche and CD we have Samuel Plant married Bridget Rafter on the 8th April 1903 and their first child born later that year.........No problem but if you look further it has the reference number 1911/003292 which to me, means the marriage didn't get registered until 1911..........................an eight year gap? Why? Cheers, James
Thanks Barbara That's very useful information to have. Would work for death too. Great Maureen
Goodness, that was quick. Thank you so much Janet, Its good to be certain of facts when they're going in a book. I'm very grateful. Maureen
You can get the exact dates of QLD BDM online with a bit of fiddling and playing around with the dates to Search From and To. If I don't have the month, I search from 1 January **** to 30 June **** - no show and I seach July to December. Once I have which half of the year, then I search month by month. You already have the month, so it's a fiddly process of searching 1 December to 31 .. 2 December to 31 ..3 December to 31 ... And sometimes I'm clever enough to change the To date back by one day each time - if I don't confuse myself too much :-) Cheers Barbara

Hi Everyone I'm looking for the actual birth date for Ellen Smith, daughter of Montrue Smith and Ethel May Williams. I think she was born in December 1913 but Qld BMD gives only the year 1913, unlike the fiche that has the day and month. We are at the deadline for the writing of the history of the Smith family, Montville and it would be good to have her date of birth. This little one died of "water on the brain", among other things, in May of 1914. Help will be much appreciated Maureen
