    1. [AUS-QLD] Looking for Mary McCubbin
    2. Marilyn Smith
    3. I have previously been in touch with a cousin, Mary McCubbin of Cairns but have lost her address and never had her phone number. If anyone knows Mary who may have a different surname now could they pass on my email address, [email protected] or phone number, 1447587881. McCubbin was her married name and I bellieve the marriage broke down. Mary is a fellow researcher of our Klastad line which includes Swanson (her line), Peterson (mine), Hanson, and Thomsen. I have recently been given some copies of old postcards and photographs which, if she doesn't have them, she will be interested in. One good photograph of her direct ancestor, Gunda Sophia Swanson nee' Klastad plus other members of the Swanson family. I have checked the Yellow Pages but nothing jumps out though may try the one at Bongaree Point. Cheers, Marilyn Smith

    3. There are some handy convict links at http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/list.html (including Peter Mayberry's excellent site) which you might like to look into. The NLA's TROVE (digitised newspapers) are also a handy resource. Tickets-of-leave, etc., were reported in the newspaper/s and you might be lucky enough to fnd reference to James/Patrick Grady (the OCR programme which is used to scan the pages often has trouble with old newspaper print). But courtesy of TROVE, "the Borodin, male prison ship, (sailed from) from Cork on the 11th February" The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser, Monday 9 June 1828. http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/2190533?searchTerm=borodino&searchLimits=l-textSearchScope=*ignore*%7C*ignore*|||exactPhrase|||l-word=*ignore*%7C*ignore*|||fromyyyy|||notWords|||anyWords|||tomm|||toyyyy|||todd|||frommm|||fromdd|||sortby=dateAsc Cheers Barbara

Suggest a better mailing list would be the PJ convicts or AUS-CONVICTs ones NSW State Records have quite a lot of info The ship a convict came here on formed part of their identity .So he would be James GRADY per Borodino 1828 bye MargM Qld List Admin

But their marriage indexes have been stuck at 1942 as long as Qlds have at 1939. Privacy laws seem to be the culprit but why are each States different ? The ordering and downloading of Historical Certificates is coming very soon, from what I read. :) Deb. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Greg Sent: Sunday, 21 October 2012 6:41 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Nice surprise Is this someone just tinkering with the system, or, are they getting ready to release more records ?? 3. I am trying to help a friend find the history of a distant relative. His name was James GRADY, who came out on the vessel BORODINO. GRADY was a convict from Ireland. Unfortunately, my friend could not give any dates, but being a convict will narrow the time frame . Many thanks Ian McEachern Western Australia

    3. I finally tracked down the death of a (gold) miner/prospector rellie who had died Port Douglas, North Queensland, in 1902 - with his surname spelt incorrectly, although the names of his parents were correct. It might be worth checking out MargM's finds. If I can get lucky, anyone can. Cheers Barbara

One in Cloncurry plus a Samuel McC also a miner ? Nothing relevant comes up in Ancestrys deaths. Some folk are harder to find than others ! Bye MargM Qld List Admin

    3. Hi Greg Have you tried the TROVE website for the digitized newspapers? There may be something recorded, perhaps they divorced! Cheers Joan Andrew McCULLOUGH was born in Brisbane on 29 March 1875 and his parents were Andrew McCULLOUGH and Sarah PANTLAND. On 13 March 1896 he married Jessie Phoebe BULLPITT. On 5 November 1918 Jessie married Walter Edward KIERNAN and Jessie died in CHILLAGOE on 7 February 1926. What happened to Andrew? The death of an Andrew in 1940 is not the correct one, but I would be interested in hearing from anyone who may know something about Andrew's demise. GREG DAVIS
