What Janelle is referring to is that August MILLEWSKI and his wife Emilie took on the King... 1907 you can read about this in all the Newspapers of the time... Jenelle .. found a good one .. for Adolph when he went into the army at aged 15 .. ended up being discharged because of age .. .. there was also a letter in there from his mother saying she didn't want to be known by the name Millewski ... so there must have been something that went on early in his life and when he was discharged he went off up north to cut cane ... I did find only two army records ... one not digitised as yet ... but the other earlier one was ... but that is all .. hope I am looking in the right place .. rgds Maree
As I said..there's a few things there..Adolph and father.. emil took on the king at the time..you gotta read that and get that digitised, don't forget the state archives of queensland and picture Australia..I don't like dropping stuff on some people who research their rellies, sometimes they have to find it themselves.... Well there are a few things on the National archives you need to get digitised and read and get his death cert....not saying as he is your history and your mystery..I know he was born in Ipswich so there are different things under that.. Jan and Jenelle .. thank you both for your help .. will continue looking ... Maree
Maree.. Ok if your Adolph Albert MILLEWSKI died 1943/what does the S stand for, do you have his death cert..if he served the country what name do we find him under on the commonwealth war graves commission, ww1 files, www.naa.gov.au, www.ww2rollgov.au, www.awm.gov.au There is a file there you need to digitise Adolphus Albert Miliski and Emilie versus the king..with so many changes of name.. Did he leave a will, if he changed his name, maybe by deed pole, in ww2, they locked up italians and germans who were in Australia.. Jenelle .. found this : *Bowen, Queensland, Australia* Mervyn MILLS, at Merinda Provisional & State School, 9 Jun 1938 (grade unknown) reason I asked about the census .. is I am trying to find the area they might have been ... I know I have her in Grace Street, Innisfail as Miliski .. in 1943 Maree
yep .. saw the whitepages .. and I have a private tree on ancestry .. it is prob mine lol ... I was just thinking .. where did you see the census for Stephen with Winifred .. I can't seem to find it on ancestry .. ?? Maree
Yep .. I know about Jenny Pitcher ... she got the info from my tree :) ... I thought he changed his name to Mills .. because his father did .. and a few others in the same family did ... (they were all Millewski or Miliski or Mileski) ...so that is why I put him down as Mills .. as a secondary surname .. just so I could try and find him ... There is another family on there with a Mervyn Mills/butcher .. but he seems to have different parents .. Anyone in ancestry I know about .. the genes reunited site I don't know what they have there .. as I am not a member anymore. Isn't it a pain when German ancestors change their names ?? Maree :)

I haven't seen any census for Stephen with Winifred, we didn't keep a lot of census in Australia, you mean electoral rolls...have you been through the bdm with every thought of way for the spelling of Miliski, have you looked for court records if they got divorced, when Adolphos died in WW2, even though he named her as NOK, did he have an address..you've presumed she and mervyn stayed in Innisfail, honestly if he died cut cane or grow bananas or work for the railways...Don't know if South Johnson or one of the other councils up there have put cemetery records on line, Cairns city council have some on..
