This is the query and the answer I received from Ancestry re Electoral Rolls. I cannot get into any Ancestry site this morning, so looks like they are trying to fix something. I have a world subscription. My query Why have you changed the search screen for Australian Electoral Rolls which makes it much harder to search? There does not appear to be a district for searches for Brisbane residents. For country areas we do not always know the districts etc. Why change something that was working beautifully. I am very annoyed. Pam Dale, Brisbane Australia Their reply Hello Pam, Thank you for contacting Ancestry in regards to searching for Australia Electoral Rolls. We sincerely apologise for your frustration in searching the Electoral Rolls. Below is a link that will explain the easiest way to search Electoral Rolls and how to get the most out of them. Hi I suggest everyone who does not like the new search for the electorial rolls- which is everyone I have spoken to- actually is proactive and gives ancestry a call. It might work, as the almighty dollar speaks and if they get 100s of calls from people questioning whether their membership are worth it, they might just change back. Lets be a bit proactive and do something about it. Warm Regards Chris ------------------------- Email sent using Optus Webmail

If you want to make a comment about this to Ancestry, go to My Account, and down to the bottom of the page to Comments, Suggestions, Please let us know. Maybe if they get negative comments they will change it back, we can only try. I agree Greg, the new search is tedious and less likely to produce results. -----Original Message----- From: aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-qld-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Greg Sent: Sunday, 17 November 2013 8:07 PM To: aus-qld@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] ancestry electoral rolls in Queensland How do you know which district to search ? HI Greg & Wayneann I have just tried to look for someone and found one relative in Toowoomba. There does not appear to be a district for Brisbane area. I think we all have to complain about these changes or they will just stay there. Pam in Brisbane From: Greg <gdav9@gdavis.id.au> Subject: [AUS-QLD] ancestry electoral rolls in Queensland To: AUS-Qld <AUS-QLD@rootsweb.com> I have just tried to search Qld electoral rolls on ancestry and could not get anything in Qld, only nsw prior to 1902 So thought I was doing something wrong so did a search for someone for whom I had searched before and found several entries, but, nothing Has anyone else had a problem ? Greg
How do you know which district to search ? How do you know which sub district to search ? With the way electoral districts change it will take for ever to find people. A month ago I wasn't sure it was worth renewing my subscription; I sure as hell know now it is not worth it. Hi Greg, I have just had a look and it seems they have set up a more complicated way to search, now you have to browse the collection by State, Year, District, Subdistrict and 1st letter of last name. It was much easier before.. Why do they have to change.
