I received the following in an email from California yesterday and was wondering if anyone has any information that would link any of the names together and in particular any links to the surname of CONNORS. I have just purchased a photo that was taken in the Grand Canyon on July 10 1906. The photo features 9 women on burros and several men, all going down a trail into a canyon. The women's names are listed on the back of the photo and one of them is listed as Lizzie Connors. The other women: Ellen Hegstrom Debra Mack Isabelle McDonald Amy Waters Maude A. Wolpitts Anna Mathiss [possibly; the handwriting is difficult to decipher] Nellie Spring Kitty Helland I have a Lizzie CONNORS born 30/12/1880 and died Rockhampton 31/1/1937, which means she would be 25 years old if she is the one in the photograph, but I don't recognise any of the other names, Greg

I've been to 2 seminar/ lessons over time and the old site was still a challenge. Next month one of NSW State Records archivists is giving a 'how to get the best out of this new part of their web site' at my local library . Booked a seat a few weeks ago ! While only some passenger arrival records digitised they have quite a good copy service on a lot of the other records And some are on Ancestry . The best set of records there are the NSW Inquests Changes in access to QSA's records has been very interesting to say the least. Bye MargM Qld List Admin
Indeed, it's very useful. Unfortunately the records aren't digitised, but nonetheless just the names and the dates in the meta-data often are useful on their own. Especially as NSW BDMs only give you the year. Thanks Janet. I did find the Fraser Coast website particularly useful Kim >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hello Kim, Headstones usually only contain dates, whereas the Fraser Coast Cemetery records on-line provide a lot more information such as age, place of birth, and shows if they share a grave and who that person might be. That on-line site lists all burials, but there would be a lot of them without headstones. There is a lot of vacant grass in the Maryborough Cemetery. Not many people could afford headstones in the years that you are looking. There was photos of Maryborough Cemetery headstones available a few years ago, but you had to purchase them. Not sure if they are still available. Happy hunting Janet

Yes Kerry and Greg I thought it was about 7 years ago when I sent my e mail so I am sorry. But now that I have thought about it I have been retired over 5 years so it must have been about 11 or 12 years ago when I went to their office and they said it is almost finished. How times change. So here we are in 2014, I will be glad to see it one day. Even town like Bundaberg, Toowoomba and Gympie has a site like many others around Australia. Greg's wonderful site is great by being able to see the head stone photos but when they have all the records and only need processing into the computer it is only a matter of labor to complete the job. I better not go on any more....sorry to get wound up.... During the past week I sent an email to Ipswich Council suggesting that it might be time for them to do something similar to the Brisbane City Council with regards to having the burial records online. Received a reply to-day saying that they are well advanced with Ipswich cemetery and that they are going to include Warrill Park, Stone Quarry, Haigslea and Tallegalla, but were unable at this time to give a date for release. It will be most welcome when it comes, Greg

Afternoon all With temperatures in the mid 40's, tis a little time to chase family history. I came across this entry - would anyone be researching this BEACH family please? I am very interested in HORATIO MATTHIAS - 1890 married 1922 to ELIZABETH MARY RYAN, as Elizabeth's mother was a MADDEN. Would love to hear from anyone with connections. Dear Lists, there are two important events coming to Tasmania, this year for the 200 years since the settlement was established at Longford. This will be held on the 1st March. The other is in 2017 at Woolmers, featuring all the free and convict workers who worked there. More information can be found on my website (below) I will be having a stall and hope to see those who came in 2013 for the 200 years celebration of the arrivals of the Norfolk Islanders in 1813. It was a great day.
