Greetings Doug & Jan I'm not sure about Staff records but I found Dunwich Benevolent Asylum records at Queensland State Archives at Runcorn when I was tracking down a rellie's wife. Does anyone know if there are any Staff records for the Asylum I am trying to find out when my Grandfather and 2 Uncles started working there.... I have my Grandfather on the 1922 Electoral Roll living in Norman Park then by 1934 he was Dunwich The Islands... I think my Two Uncles would have started in the late 30's going by their ages... TIA Jan

Well, a family tree on Ancestry that Ivy Olive Campbell (who married Thomas Michael Dawson) was born in 1889 in Cunnamulla, daughter of Alexander Peterson Campbell and Matilda Smith Matilda Smith Birth 1849 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Death 27 may 1937 in Brisbane Qld Alexander Peterson Campbell Birth 29 Dec 1839 in North Shields, Northumberland England Death 30 Jun 1909 in Brisbane Queensland Australia Matilda and Alexander married 29 Aug 1866 at Springdallah Victoria Rio de Janeiro sounds a surprising sort of location, but some of the immigrant ships went from Britain to Rio and then down around the Cape of Good Hope, so that's one possibility . Hello Marg, The 1913 Queensland Electoral Roll has - Niels Hansen TERKELSEN, miner, living Waverley, Ingham, Herbert NOTE SPELLING OF NAME. Can not find a marriage, or on any later Electoral Rolls, but it looks like this is his death - Neil TERKELSEN died 1918 C2728 - Father: Hans TERKELSEN - Mother: Paulotta HANSEN Cheers Janet Hervey Bay
Thanks for the welcome Leslie! My request is for a lookup for a good friend who is just starting on her genealogy road. I would like to find a marriage and if possible children for NEILS HANSON TERKELSON or TERKLESON He was born in Denmark in 1855 and migrated to Qld in 1883. A miner, he worked in both Western and Northern parts of Qld. My friend has his naturalisation papers for 1908. I have the Victorian cd's of bdm's and am happy to look up for anyone. These cd's still work on my XP but apparently not on later Windows. June, is it possible to ask a more targeted set of questions rather than "any information"? You will probably get a better response if you can be more specific about what it is that you most immediately want to know, e.g. Who were his parents? What are the names of his children? OOPS! Of course if Ellen was born 1866, that would rule the lady on the "Duke of Argyle" out. Have not yet found anything in any of the other lists I have looked at so far. Hi Irene, As you may have realised, I am used to searching QLD records. Just went to the QLD archives passenger lists, and found a lot of people with names such as MINZE/MINES/MINNS etc, but no George. Had a look on Trove too, but nothing between 1880 and 1890 in shipping lists. Lots of unnamed people in steerage though, even listed like that from Sydney. Went to the new QLD BDM's and found George "Alan" and Ellen were married in 1889 (C607) Went back to the QLD archives shipping and found two Ellens. DONOGHUE aged 30 on the "Duke of Argyle" 4/2/1888 DONOHOE aged 15 on the "Corona" 6/3/1884 Do you have a possible date of birth that would rule either of these out? This is only a preliminary look. There is also a passenger list on the NSW Archives site that relates directly to QLD. Haven't looked there yet. Interestingly, in QLD 1882 there is an Elizabeth MINZ marrying a Julius Edward BAARTZ. (C455). If the MINZ family were there earlier, it would definitely be worth looking on the NSW list. Am about to do so. Will get back to you if I find anything.
