Hi Jan, Thanks heaps for this. Given that Patrick doesn't appear on the 1934 roll, he could possibly be the Patrick (no parents' names given) who died in 1928 and who was born in Ireland. The only catch is that he died in Brisbane, but may not mean much. Thanks again. Annie If you know when the person you want died in Qld up to 1964 you could check the microfiche of Qld Deaths, probably the Society in Cairns will have them, the wife's parents names should be shown on the death Index, if that information was known at the time of the registration of the death. My consolidated index to Queensland Public Curator insanity files (for mental asylum patients admitted before 1919) now covers surnames beginning with A to Q. The list of P and Q names was added to my Web site this week. If someone 'vanished', or if a death registration cannot be found, or if children were raised by someone other than their parents, always consider the possibility of admission to a mental asylum. Reasons included epilepsy, alcoholism and depression. Some patients were only there for a few days. Insanity files sometimes give personal details (for both the patient and his/her relatives) that you won't find anywhere else. They may include biographical data, addresses, employment history, or details of the family's financial circumstances. Some files even have certificates, wills, inventories, divorce details, police reports etc. For lists of names from Public Curator insanity files, and links to lists of asylum inmates derived from other sources (Annual Reports, Colonial Secretary's in-letters, and Supreme Court insanity files), see www.judywebster.gil.com.au/insanity.html. Before asking questions, please read the Web page mentioned above. To reply to me PERSONALLY, use the email address on www.judywebster.gil.com.au/index.html, not the one on this message.
