Jo, you haven't bothered me, with have some of the papers at the James Cook Uni, Townsville and the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane, (don't live there) has all of them. I work now so don't get the time to get to either the historical society or JCU (have no car), so the form is the option I use, generally back in a couple of weeks for Queensland State library. Does anyone know the process for obtaining a photo.. and the cost of a copy of a photo from the John Oxley Collection. Thanks Gay
Hello all, I'm looking for some assistance. In the 1880s/1890s my five great great aunts came out from Ireland to Queensland. They were Bridget, Norah, Kate, Ann and Mary Cuneen. (Three separate voyages.) Norah married Timothy McCarthy (Muttaburra), Mary married Sam Clemesha, but I have no knowledge of what happened to Bridget, Kate or Ann. Can anyone help? Thank you Jeanette Hartley

Hi all, I've come across this today, and I thought I'd forward it on, it's probably worth a glance. Of course, it does take you to some 'paid' sites, and there's lots to wade through, but I did come across some needed info. in the UK, free, so was interesting. >>An interesting online service exists to help locate people across a range >>of other web services. It will check in "deep web" services such as >>linkedin, wordpress, facebook, myspace, classmates, friendsreunited, >>google groups, the usenet groups, news services, and many others looking >>for the footprints that individuals may have left on the internet.>> Enjoy searching at: http://www.pipl.com/ Cheers, Jill
Here is the record of Eileen's citation....Her name is spelt Eileen May..not Mary..I wonder which is right? http://tinyurl.com/buw6y4 or http://www.itsanhonour.gov.au/honours/honour_roll/search.cfm?aus_award_id=872187&search_type=quick&showInd=true Cheers Gay ----- Original Message ----- From: "wollar1914" <wollar1914@yahoo.com.au> To: <aus-qld@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 09, 2009 10:19 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Fw: JOHN MUNRO WALKER > Thank you so very much for this. Thank you so very much for this. I did ring a friend in Sydney to see if she could go and have a look at the fiche for me. Didn't know Russell had died but I guessed John had. John's mothers name was really Bedelia and she married Elliott at some time and had two sons, worked her out to be about 17 when she had them, then somehow she married Walker, can't see where she came in - born in Ireland, no idea about Elliott but one son is buried at Woodhill and the other one married the Governor Generals daughter Blakeney. Hi Julie Yes I was stunned as well, I was told that the photcopies would charge $1 for each death notice (Daily Telegraph) and when I rang them they said there were fees for looking things up, postage, paper and all sorts of things. They based it on time or something as well. This was about 5 years ago and I became a member of Ryerson and became an indexer and until recently was able to look most things up at the Uni near my home but since then we have moved and all that has gone. ----- Original Message ----- From: "julie dern" <julie.dern@bigpond.com> To: <aus-qld@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 10, 2009 9:23 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Death Notice Look UP > Jo, > > That is simply outrageous. Hi Listers, I have an Elizabeth Ann BEASLEY in my tree, born in Kirkstall, Victoria, in 1873, but known to have been in Queensland in 1909 when she married John William SHIPP. My question is - could she have been the mother of Emily Charlotte BEASLEY, an illegitimate child born in 1904? 1904/C4854 Beasley Emily Charlotte Elizabeth Beasley No Charlotte in the family, but Elizabeth's mother was Emma, and her next sister was Emily. A check of the records shows that there was also an Elizabeth Mary Ann Susannah BEASLEY in Queensland at the same time - she married Joseph Francis SMITH in 1909 (the same year that Elizabeth Ann(e) married John William SHIPP). Help, anyone? Elizabeth Ann SHIPP (BEASLEY) was buried at Roma in 1919: http://cemindex.arkangles.com/inscription.php?id=2878744 (Oddly enough, her husband, John William SHIPP, who had previously married Alice DONIGAN in Queensland in 1900, was buried in Colac, Victoria). Delighted if anyone could shed light on this branch of my tree. Regards, Lesley (In grey, overcast Melbourne - after a weekend of fires)
